For more Favorite things go visit Suzanne over at Living to tell the story....

1. Frosted Animal Crackers by Nabisco. They are so good. I picked a bag up for my kids in Vacation Bible School next week...and also picked up a bag for us...opened them and could not quit eating them. Yummy!

2. 4 day weeks. They are just faster and easier. I may not know the day of the week we are on but who cares.

3. Eating lunch with Scott. It is always a treat to get to eat lunch with your spouse, even if its for an hour and all you talk about are the kids....that hour is is nice. Not having to contain a 3 year old in a booth.

4. The Last Day of School. Is today. Hip Hip Hooray Summer time is here. We can sleep in. The kids have had to go an extra week and tag on 30 minutes extra to their days to make up for the Ice Storm we had back in January. I'm just glad they did not go into June and its over!

5. Family walks in the evenings. We have been walking together as a family every evening. it's nice to hear about everyone's days.

No big plans this weekend. Friends over for dinner on Saturday night and a Sunday School picnic. The class is doing great. Please keep us in prayer still. Vacation Bible School gets kickin off Monday so we will still be helping with it this weekend. All good things though. Madison has a party tonight. She has become a social butterfly going to something every weekend. Today is working on VBS at the church and getting a new umbrella for the deck and new cushions for our chairs out back...yeah! Have a great weekend everyone!

Bits and Pieces

It's the last week of school. And Madison is sick. Stomach pains since Saturday. Laying around, fatigue, vomiting a few times. I'm waiting for her to awake this morning to see what symptoms she has so I can call the Dr. Viruses dont seem to last 4 days.
It rained alot here this weekend...which we really did not mind. Friday night an old friend came over for dinner with her kids. I held her new baby while we nice. Saturday we went shopping at the mall and the kids got alot of new clothes...Madison stayed home in bed. We then met up with Scott's parents for dinner. Sunday was church....and a cook out at my house for my mom's birthday. Yesterday we did nothing. Stayed home....I was going to go to the cemetery but it is so wet...I will wait until later this week.

I made a great recipe last night and posted it on my recipe blog....go check it out. It is so good.
I menu planned last night so that is out of the way. The house is clean, the laundry is done. I think I may clean out closets today. Unless I have to take Madison to the Dr.

That is all that is going on in my home....I so hope you all have had a great holiday weekend.....

Summer Fun Ideas

So I have been compiling a list of Summer Fun things around here. I went to the Dollar tree yesterday and bought some rainy day fun puzzles, new books, new coloring paper, new craft ideas.......but for those hot sunny days....I need a plan.

Here is what I came up with so far....let me know what I'm missing.

1. Movie Days. Our Cinemark has $1 movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays....we plan on doing this at least every week.

2. Library Day. We have an amazing library....and we can hit the ice cream shoppe downtown afterwards.

3. The Spray park is alot of fun and free.

4. Museums. Setting this up with some friends to do together.

5. Thrift Shop days....we do this with my mom and have so much fun finding bargains.

6. Picnics in the we dont do this in the middle of the days in the summer...too hot. So we started last year meeting at the park at 5:30 with Scott after work....doing a dinner picnic and playing....the kids loved it. Our park does old movies outside once a week too. Free.

7. The pool...a given.

8. Early morning walks.

9. Yard Sales are fun and to give each child some money to buy things with.

10. Then there are days when we have to stay home and clean....not so much fun for the kids....get the kids invovled in helping around the music while you clean...for the ones that wont clean....make them hang out in their rooms. No reward of course.

11. Cooking. Madison and I love the Food Net work..this year we are going to make a topsy turvey cake.....our project together.

12. Our Garden....Miller like to help with this one.

13. Movie days at home....I set the DVR alot throughout the year to grab old movies for all of us to watch on down days...we love to pop popcorn grab some lemonade and watch movies together. I like Madsion to watch some of the great movies I watched at her age..this summer I'm shooting for....Stand By Me, Cant By Me Love and Summer Rental....hilarious.

14. Day trips to smaller communities around here....the amish, the mennonites, fruit and veggie farms.

15. The lakes golf, paddle boats...something new this year we will do.

What do you all do? This is our list so far. We are still adding some things....we are taking one vacation this summer.....our BIG DISNEY trip is in the fall.....

The kids

The kids were goofy on Sunday. I went and did my last MOPS meeting for the evening group and the kids stayed home with Scott. He played with my new camera.

Miller is such a little sweetheart....he just loves to be outside all of the time. I'm trying to figure out new schedules as he is going away from his naps and staying up...which means no time for momma......any ideas????????

Madison is just growing. 5th grade is so much more different than 6th grade. And now we have 7th grade to look forward too. Dont grow up to fast have so much more to exp.

They look as if they really love each other here. They do. They just love to fight too.

The house...3 years later

We have worked really hard on our home for the last 3 years. Scott wants to enter it in a contest...I say no I thought I would post some pictures of it this morning....

The garden. We love it. We will put our fence around it this weekend to ward off the rabbits. we have a roll of onions, 2 rolls of green beans, 2 rolls of Jet star tomatoes, a roll of zucchini and squash, a shared roll of cucumbers and roma tomatoes, a roll of 4 different peppers, banana peppers, pepperocini peppers, green bell pepper, and jalepeno peppers, and watermelon. Yum! I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

My swing I talk about all the is so nice to sit in with a glass of lemonade or white wine and just rest....with a magazine.

A closer view.

Very proud of ourselves the last 3 years. This house was left to sit and be forgotten. We love it. It's now a home.

Suzanne at Living to tell the Story hosts this each week. I haven't done it in a while so I'm trying to get back on track....

1. New dearest oldest friend Fran had her baby Monday and I went to hold her. I just love the smell of new borns and how sweet they are....hours old. I also held a friends 4 week old in MOPS yesterday....she is so sweet her sleep stage still. Something about new babies make me beginnings.

3. Church. Some dear friends of ours have decided to start a new Sunday School Class and asked us to go with them to help get it going. It excites me to no end to birth a new class and outreach couples who have no class. We love our church but have felt for some time we needed to do something different. We felt led to outreach. This is our opportunity. Please keep us in prayer.

4. Get aways. As you know Scott and I took a little trip last weekend. I love the alone times with him.

5. Fresh homegrown strawberries....bought my first batch this week...not from a grocery. Love them.

Little Trips

Waterfalls are God's art work

Our trip to the Great Smokey Mountains this past weekend was nice and relaxing. It was quiet and serene. No alarm clocks, no children, no food to cook, no house to errands to run or practices to be at. Just the mountains, the hot tub and some cocktails.
We had a nice time. Getting up when we wanted to....eating out all three meals. Walking from knick knack store to the next...finding a little cantina to hide out in and have a margaritas.
We try and get away once or twice a year by ourselves. It rejuvenates us as a married couple and as adults. Do you ever get away with hubby? How long are you gone for and do you feel guilty?

The Smokey Mountains....smoking.

Sunset in the mountains......

May equals strawberries in Ky.

I love strawberries. Our local market just started selling them. Each year on may 1st they set their little stand up and hundreds come and buy strawberries all month long. I saw them yesterday and almost stopped. I may go back this morning. I make jam in May towards the end of the month....around 25 jars each year. I only have 2 jars left so I better get to it. Do any of you can anything?
