It's Friday so I'm participating in Susanne's Friday's Favorite Five Picks....five of my favorite things that have happened or I enjoyed the last for more go on over and check it out.

1.Staying home for 2 days. Miller and I stayed home on Monday and Tuesday all day long. It was so nice to not have errands to run and just hang out together. I napped with him one day...he is so sweet and cuddly. Our time together is precious to me.

2. My mom. She came home Monday night....I was so excited. I'm glad she went to Florida and got to play great golf on beautiful golf courses and see an amazing golf tournament....but I'm also glad it's over and she is home...not only to help me with the kids but to hang out with me too. She is my best friend.

3.My Anniversary. It was yesterday. 15 years. Something to be proud of. We got to meet for dinner at a decent time actually. It was nice.

4. Caramel Kiss coffee....Scott surprised me with it this is so good.

5. Warmer temps got up to almost 70..although we had crazy storms through out the was nice to put the jackets away if only for one day.

Our weekend will be a bit crazy. We have 10 12 year olds coming to the house for a slumber party tonight. yes you heard me. It's Madison's birthday weekend. We are doing pizza, and dips and chips and candies, and the best part is the Chocolate cake...just a bunch of stuff to dip in the fountain of chocolate. yum! We have some movies and viola...a slumber party.
Miller is going to my moms for the night and Scott is actually staying the night with it's me and the girls tonight. Say a prayer.
Saturday....we have volleyball practice in the morning....Madison has a lunch date with my parents and then our Sunday School Class is doing Pizza and Bowling for the family. So...we will be busy. Scott is working the weekend. But it's getting better...i finally see that light. Maybe in 2 weeks it will go normal...sorta.
I hope you all have a great weekend. And I will talk to you on Monday.

Our Anniversary.

15 years ago today we were married. 300 attended. I was 19 years old and you were 22. We thought we knew everything. We then moved away from our families...650 miles actually. And started our life. It has been the best ride so far. 2 kids, 1 dog, a great house, and 15 years later...i love you as I did that Saturday we said i do. No regrets. Just alot of love. I look forward to the next 15.
I love you...Scott.

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this:
Decide what you want.

So it's Tuesday. Miller didn't go to school yesterday. We stayed home. His cough is getting better and you can tell he is feeling better. But the steroid at times makes he feel different..Today is the last day for it and I'm glad.
My mom came home yesterday. I'am so GLAD. She helps me so much with the kids so we can actually have a life so I was thrilled to see them make it in okay. They had fun and I'm happy they can go and do the things they do.
Madison's birthday is Sunday and I have nothing for her. She has asked for one thing. Volleyball socks...that is it. So I need to hit the mall this week. Maybe mom will go with me.
I'm getting my herb garden together this week too. I' looking forward to growing the herbs...Miller is going to help me prepare it..that should be interesting.
I'm making a meatball pasta dish with a salad tonight. And making a cake for a friend who helped me out of a jam today. I made fresh granola yesterday...yummy. We love it so much.
Cleaning bathrooms today and vacuuming....I need to work on Esther as my class is Thursday.
I'm also working on our MOPS Tea Party..I'm doing an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party and getting some great ideas. I need to start working on them soon.
Today I will work on our Disneytrip...we are not going until October but planning a Disney trip you have to plan early...if you all have any tips I need to know throw them at me....I'm researching all kinds of things.
Well...i dont have alot more to talk to you soon.

For more Day Books...go on over to Peggy's @ The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...February 23rd

Outside my window...the sun is slowly rising. Temps are in the low 20's. I see the school bus coming up the road.

I am thinking...of the fund raiser for Miller's school today. Yet he is still sick. Waiting for the Dr's office to open to see what to do.

From the learning rooms... I have been going over what I'm going to plant this past week in our spring and summer garden. So this week Miller and I will discuss these fruits and veggies...and color them. Possibly paint them too. And discuss what they start with and taste like.

I am thankful for... good conversation with my husband.

From the kitchen... comfort food this week. Spring is coming and I want several things to comfort us this week such as....Chicken Boudine with fruit, Swiss Steak with baby peas and carrots, Homemade bread, Mexican Lasagna....and for something sweet...Oreo Truffles for my anniversary this week.

I am wearing...pajamas.

I am reading... Martha Stewart's Spring catalog.

I am hoping... Madison's slumber party goes smooth Friday.

I am creating... a list of things for her party....alot of little girls, pizza, movies and a chocolate fountain for entertainment

I am hearing...the dryer going. fresh clean clothes.

I'am Miller's pre school today to help set up for their fund raising Spaghetti Dinner. Maybe.

Around the house... Cleaning closets, Organizing drawers in bedrooms, cleaning bathrooms, and sweeping and vacuuming floors.

One of my favorite things... having lunch with my momma. She comes home this week....yeah!

A few plans for the rest of the week... gymnastics, 2 bible studies, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser, My 15 year wedding anniversary (dinner out with Scott), a slumber party with giggling tweens, a Sunday School bowling party, lunch with a friend, and church.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...Madison on Friday night going to the Country Club Dance. She is getting so big.

Friday, February 20, 2009

Good Morning! It's Friday and that means....Suzanne's Friday Favorites. I do this to help me focus on the weeks past...the good things. For more go on over and visit with will be glad you did.

1. Eddy's Bite Size Peanut Butter and Chocolate Ice Creams.....yummy! I love anything Peanut butter and chocolate. I normally get the mint chocolate chip...but found these and have hidden them from everyone in the back of the freezer. Dont worry...I bought them something else.

2. Shopping with Madison. We did some shopping earlier this week and had fun together. I love these moments with her.

3. A surprise lunch from Subway with Scott. He has been working so much lately. He surprised me and Miller Wednesday with lunch here at home. It was nice to have him here if only for 45 minutes. Miller even got to play the Wii with him before he left.

4. The show Lost. I cannot get enough of this show. When it finally ends..I may just watch all the seasons over again. It is such a great show.

5. Willow Wick Candles. I love these. they are a bit pricey. But my house smells so good while they burn....the Biscotti is one of my favorites.

So the week seems to have gone by rather fast. Today is grocery day. It's 18 outside this morning and little Miller has a hard cough. Madison missed the bus so a dear friend swung by to get her so I didn't have to get Miller out so early. Say a prayer for Miller. I have him on a breathing treatment and he goes on a steroid today. This weekend will be pretty laid back. Madison has a formal dance to go to tonight. I will post pictures next week. She is having a friend stay the night after the dance. She has Volleyball registration and a clinic tomorrow and then we may go shopping. Sunday Scott is home all day long! I'm making his favorite dinner and really looking forward to down time with him. Keep praying for him...he is so mentally tired.

Enjoy your weekend and I will see you back on Monday.

I Believe

I Believe...

That just because two people argue,

it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
we understand that friends change.

I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt
you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over
the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what
we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done

when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe...
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,

but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them and less to do
with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe...
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.

sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
but, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find
out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, when
a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

A friend sent this to me...and I had to share.

Grab a coffee..let's talk

Wouldnt it be nice to be on this tiny little boat..kicked back with some kind of favorite drink...(mine would be something fruity with Rum) and not a care in the world? That would be nice. Look at the color of the water...perfect blue if you asked me.

It's Wednesday. Hump Day as i referred to it when I worked. It's a really windy day here and it rained all night. We have had the weirdest weather in the last month. the temps are in the 60's today and will be in the 20's tonight...which means my sweet little family will be sick. Miller's respiratory will worsen and Madison will get all congested. I'm boiling water today to keep the house moist for Miller. He isnt sick...I'm just getting prepared.

Today I need to finish cleaning floors and vacuuming. Clean out my closet and sort sock drawers. Do some laundry. And prepare cupcakes for tomorrow's MOPS meeting..cake decorating. I'm also needing to prep dinner for tonight.
Miller and I are going to cut construction paper and glue them on other papers. He loves to cut. We may also paint today.
My bible study is tonight. Mom to Mom. I enjoy this study because it is so laid back. No homework and its everyday stuff.

So are there any gardeners out there? I'm getting my list together for our garden this spring. What I want to plant. If you have a garden let me know what your doing this year. I plan on green beans, squash, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, a small herb garden on the deck, blackberries and strawberries, lettuce and some zucchini. I guess that will be about it. Maybe cucumbers again..I had good luck with those.
We may work on beds Sunday when Scott is off work. Prepping. I also want a pear tree. One that produces pears so we can eat them or I can make Pear Honey in the fall off of it. So alot of spring talk here.

I hope you all have a great hump day....see you tomorrow.

Good Morning.

The sunrise this morning in my back yard.

Good Morning. We were up early this morning. Madison had book club at 7am sharp so we left at 6:45 for drop off. It was so early. Miller was still in his pajamas. So Miller had his second day of preschool yesterday and Madison was out of school for Presidents Day. So after we dropped him off she and I ran some errands. We enjoy our moments together when its just she and I. We dropped off our consignment clothes and ran to the post office and went into a few specialty shops down town. We love our down town area. Its so historic and quaint.

So our town is still not "looking" normal. Limbs are piled high at the end of everyone's yards as far as you can see. Some people are burning them. You see smoke for miles. I was told the Farmers Almanac predicted this storm and that they have predicted another one. Now I have NOT read I hope its a rumor. That was a hard week for us. Scott is still working 13 hour days and is so tired. I try and make it as easy as possible for him when he gets home....dinner is always ready...a beer awaits him and I'm normally asking the kids to chill out when he walks through the door. Yet you can see it in his eyes....the exhaustion. This Sunday he is off. I think I may just let him sleep in. I may just take the kids to church myself and let him rest. I plan on cooking his favorite meal that day...Mexican Lasagna. And hanging at home with him.

Today is cleaning day for me. I have bathrooms, and closets to tackle. Some laundry. Floors to be cleaned. We are having leftovers tonight..Chicken Divan. I may make some cookies later. My Shortbread these. And I will be working on Esther today...Its tough being a Woman.....I haven't looked at it in a day or two.

My mom and dad are coming home next week and I cant wait. I miss them.
I get my nails done tonight. SO that will be nice. I have pick up with gymnastics this afternoon. So I'll be out and about with kids.

I guess that is all for now. I hope you all have a great day.

I am thinking... Scott is getting so tired. He has worked everyday since 1/26 except for one day. His next day off is 2/22. He is just so worn out. (Ice Storm)

Getting back to normal

The storm is over and I'm putting it behind me. Miller and I are home today. cleaning and cooking and doing what I love the best. Being a stay home momma.
I'm getting ready for valentines Day. I have the kids gifts bought and wrapped. Heart paper found at Big Lots. Miller is getting Lincoln Logs and chocolates and Madison is getting some new pajamas and candy. Scott is getting a new book.
Miller loved pre school. They said he did really well. He is getting so big. Potty trained and now in pre school.

Around the house I have been cleaning floors and base boards. Doing some laundry. And playing with Miller. We have cut out hearts today. And glued cards for daddy and Madison.

Miller went to the ENT Dr yesterday and they put him on Nasonex again. Due to the ear that has lost the tube...he has some pressure back there. So say a prayer we dont have any other infections.

I start the bible study Ester tomorrow and looking forward to it. Anyone done this one?
Taking it with some friends from MOPS so that will be nice.

The winds are high today...really fast and hard. Watching things blow around is a little scary
Taking dinner to a friend tonight..Chicken Quesadillas and Mexican Rice and a Chocolate Pie for dessert. We are having the same for our dinner. Lost is on tonight so I'm looking forward to that.
And Survivor starts tomorrow night... I cant wait.

Enjoy your Wednesday. I'll be back tomorrow.

Winter Storm 2009 through my eyes.

So this is what it looked like Tuesday morning when Scott awoke me to say get a shower...we will not have power for long.....he was right. This was ice and sleet and freezing rain....

This is what it looked like on Wednesday after the rest of it came in.

My poor poor's odd how it is all so beautiful the next day but yet so dangerous to be around.

We couldn't get mamie's car in the driveway due to the down branches.

again....the down frozen limbs on my garage and driveway.

Clean up day was a huge mess.

just some of the debris

A helper. Miller really enjoyed raking the leaves.
Our yard wont be the same....but our trees lived and now we need Mother Nature to love on them. We are very blessed.

(We didnt have power at our home for 8 home was down to 47 degrees....but it survived..we had no damage..we saved our food...just a big mess to clean up.)

I am hearing...nothing. Silence is nice.

Around the house... straightening up the house after the weekend. Cleaning off the front porch. I did a deep cleaning last week. going over fingerprinted areas in the house too.

A little advice that has helped me through the last 3 months.

No trial that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down, He'll never let you be pushed past your limit,He'll always be there to help you through it"
1 Corinthians 10:13

Some of my favorite things.

Suzanne @ Living to Tell the Story hosts this each Friday and I love it....go on over to visit her.

1. Electricity. Something we take for granted...but yes..when I got the call we had it was like hitting the lottery. So it is my up most favorite thing this past week.

2. Fancy Cakes by little Debbie. We ate 3 boxes this week. Snowed in can do this.

3. Coffee. I was unsure I would even get a cup on Day 1 of all of this. But Scott's Grandma had little coffee bags like tea bags and we boiled water and viola....this girl got a hot cup of coffee.

4. Quilts. They not only kept us warm...Scott's grandma gave us 3 she made and her mother made. This meant alot to us.

5. Little House on the Prairie books and DVD's. We read several of them and watched the first season when we got power at grandma's. Madison loved them so much.

Although the last week has taught me we all take simple things in life for granted...I will begin to appreciate these things and include them in daily prayer to thank God for them.
I cleaned all day yesterday. And have several errands to run today. Life is getting back to normal. Madison and Miller go to school on Monday. Miller starts pre school. One day a week.
My parents left this morning for a month in Florida. So life will be challenging for me. Scott is still working 12 hours days. But I'm thankful he has a job.
I have great friends who check on me and love me and I'm thankful for them as well.
This week God showed me it was okay to let go and be real. He showed me how to be a little patient when the time was right. And he taught me that life is not on my clock but on his. And I'm okay with that.
Enjoy your weekend. Scott is off on Sunday finally. So we will have some much needed family time.

Day 8 on the Prairie

We got power last night about 9pm...did you here me screaming for joy? I havent been home yet. The temps got down to 9 last night so Scott drove over and turned the heat on and turned the heat pump off emergency.

He said the house was so cold. But it nice to turn that breaker to on...and something finally happen.
Thank you for your personal emails to check on me. Your prayers and loving thoughts...they meant more than you will ever know. Life has been very difficult these last days. What got me through them were prayer and family and friends...

I may not post again until Friday as these next couple of days will be busy with cleaning and taking care of my sweet home....I cannot wait.

The kids are going to my moms today so I can have lunch with a friend...much needed.....
Have a great day!

Day 7 on the prairie

Well it's been a week today this all started. Scott woke me up and said get a shower..when we lose power I don't know what time it will come back on or what day. That was last Tuesday at 6:30am. I lost power at 7:15am. I got my shower and my hair dried. But the cinnamon rolls in the oven did not get done. SO the kids ate cereal. Miller and I went about our morning. Madison awoke at 9am and I noticed the house starting to get cold. Miller was getting bored so I put CARS in the computer for him to watch. Madison and I started to watch the sleet come down. It had come down all night....the trees were leaning. I really started to wonder how much longer we would stay in our house. By noon I had made peanut butter sandwiches and bananas sliced with milk. It was cold..the house was 61. We ate...and I decided to pack us. We left out at 1pm to Scott's grandmas house. She still had power and lives on the same block as the hospital so I knew if she lost power she would re gain it fast. The trees were across the roads and people were going around them. I had never seen anything like this. The roads were drive able..but nerve racking. Tree limbs were falling in front of us as the temps were rising. We got to mamies house and got unloaded..she still had cable and power...the kids settled in really fast. I made some fast phone calls and emails knowing what lie ahead that night while we slept.
My last phone call was to my momma at 9pm by cell phone. We had lost power and had candles lit everywhere. We also had a gas stove to warm us through the night. Scott got home late..and we went to sleep. I could here the tree limbs all night hitting the house and falling..sounded like rifles going off. Then the rain came....then the freezing rain...and low and behold the sleet...the sound was like something on a movie. And then. Silence. I knew it was snowing.
We awoke to a winter wonderland. It was beautiful...but dangerous. We had to boil water for coffee. I felt as if we were on an episode of Little House on the Prairie. Oh how I took those books for granted. It was so cold.
Scott left for work. What normally takes 20 minutes to get from our house to mamies house took him little over an hour.
That afternoon I had got the kids together and took off to the house. The roads were a little clearer.....our town was devastated. I cried. I could not believe this simple word ice could do so much damage. Cell Towers were down and I had no communication with anyone.
I got to the house to see nothing was this 50 in the house. I left and tried to get to my moms. Two trees laid in the way. SO we turned around. Madison cried.
I knew they were fine they had gas logs and the grill to cook on. We got back home to realize that the house was too we would have to make beds in the living room at night for all of us and close the doors. It worked...alot of quilts.
Thursday we got out again to see the house...still sitting waiting for us to come home. I went to a friends house as our trip was to start on Friday to Gatlinburg. I couldn't drive to her so I hiked thru the snow. It wasn't that bad. I got to them. They had cell service so we made some calls and decided to call the trip off and reschedule. That we did.
I went back to mamies.
By Friday morning mamie got power. So life seemed a little easier. Although my nerves were shot and patience gone. 2 kids and an84 year old woman can make you un easy at times. But somehow I made it. On Saturday I had my first melt down. I cried alot. Sunday I was angry still no power at the house......power coming on all around me ...still none at my house.
Monday. No emotion. Miller has pink eye. I'm packing to go to my moms house as they have power and live closer to my home. Madison is supposed to go back to school tomorrow. We will see. As of yesterday I still had no power.
I know we are lucky/blessed to have a roof/power/gas/food. But this situation will get to any mother of young kids. My house is my life this what I do for a living. A homemaker. Yesterday my home was 45 degrees. It is cold and lonely and sad and all I want to do is clean it and love on it.
Miller's fish died. It got cold. I went back everyday to feed it. I just couldn't take the aquarium with me. Lucky is with us and doing fine.
Today the wind is blowing hard. SO trees and power lines that didn't come down may today. We are supposed to have snow flurries also. I could care less.
I talked to God last night. I had forgotten to talk to him throughout this whole thing. I awoke feeling better. I have hope because I know he has taken care of us.
I know he is our God and he will be there for me.
So say a prayer for us if you get a minute. We made National news last night...Paducah Ky....I couldn't believe it. The National Guard said this area was considered close to Katrina...I was in shock.

As I type this Miller sits here with me saying...I wanna go home.

For Today...February 2, 2009..Ground Hogs Day

Outside my Window...I'm seeing lights slowly come on in homes that have been without power for days. The air is so cold. And my sweet husband leaves again for a 13 hour day.

From the learning rooms...not much this week...talking about winter some.

I'am thinking....about the things we need to do today.

I'am thankful.....for heat and electricity and family.

From the kitchen this week...Chili, Homemade Pizza, M&M Cookies, and when I get back into my own kitchen....I'm going to bake until I tire.

I am wearing..pajamas...flannel green ones with snow flakes

I am reading...The Little House Books....

I am get to go home today. I need my house.

I am creating...a list of places to call's a long list.

I am hearing...power trucks go by.

Around the completely needs to be cleaned from top to bottom....when we get back there.

One of my favorite things......watching Steel Magnolias. I love this show. And when things get back to normal....I'm going to watch it.

Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week....Not really sure...can you believe that? Gymnastics and schools are still canceled. We have MOPS on Thursday but if school is still canceled it will be too. We do however have a playdate at the Sportsplex on Friday..hopefully. Church on Wednesday...for some down time for all of us.

A picture thought I would like to share.. this was not taken by me...I cant down load my pictures until I get home...but this is what some of our town looked like on Wednesday and so forth. Please pray for us....we are not used to these disasters.
