Girl Talk

So it's Thursday. The last day of school. They are spending it at Field Day. I remember Field Day. It was so exciting. Playing games all day long. Eating outside. Sweating..Running and not a care in the world.

Miller and I had a play date/Coffee date this morning at the house. It's always nice to have friends over for coffee and talk. The boys played. It is such a beautiful day outside.

Our painter is outside painting the trim and shutters on the house. I have to say hip hip hooray for this. I cannot wait for this to be done.

I need to go to the grocery. We have alot going on with school getting out and all. We are going to the pool tomorrow for the day. The weekend weather isn't supposed to be all that great.

Alot of you asked for the Strawberry Jam recipe. It is the freezer jam on the Sure Jel package. It is very good....we love it so.
Summer is coming fast. We are so excited for it's arrival. Tonight's dinner is Chicken Pot Pie and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

I hope you all have a great and my girlfriends are going to see Sex and the City Sunday night....girls night!

Madison at the Olive Garden 1/08

Dearest Madison, 5/23/2008

I wanted to write you a letter…it’s the night before you graduate to the 6th grade. You have grown into a beautiful young lady whom I’m proud to call my daughter. It is just like yesterday we started kindergarten with Ms. Pat. You were such a determined little girl. Strong willed and hot tempered….I can do it myself momma. When I left you in that big school gym that morning I cried all the way to work….you….stood there with a smile on your face…strong enough for the both of us. As that year went by…we had our troubles…you loved school so much though. First grade came with Mrs. Grubbs and oh how we loved her so much. She got you and could look at you and make you melt in two minutes. Still can. First grade you kissed Carter and Prather and oh how I could have just died…but you were such a flirt….You thought you couldn’t live without either boy….guess what? You have. Second grade Mrs. Wulff. You started to meet your good friends. You were so sick this year. Strep more times than we could count..your first time in the hospital. So strong. You were so brave and always has been . I was so proud of you. Third grade came and we decided to have a baby. You were so supportive and excited. We had Holly Hall….and you had all your friends in class. It wasn’t the best year in school…but Miller came into our lives and forever changed us all. You grew up over night. You are such a great big sister. He thinks so much of you and loves you so much.

But third grade came sadness as well. Papaw Dub passed away this year. But as usual you were the strong willed one. You knew he was fine and in Heaven. You reassured us we would see him again. We buried him that spring and you smiled…no tears. You are so strong…..I know I keep saying this…but you are. You have that Miller in you. That strong willed woman. Don’t you ever forget this.

Fourth grade came and it was a great year for us. We had Susan Mc Clure and she was great. You respected her as she went through some of the same things our family went through with Alzheimer’s…so you understood at the age of 9. This was a great year for us. Fifth grade..the last year of Elementary. The last year of our innocence. You have grown so much since you were 5. I look at you everyday and see something different. Madison..I’m so proud of you.

I know middle school will bring you so much happiness, new beginnings, and hope. Along with make up, cell phones and boys…how I would love to wait and start back in kindergarten again. Just remember where you came from, who loves you and what you are about. I wish you all the stars in the sky…all the fireworks you can find and plenty of sunshine on rainy days. Remember life is about taking chances and loving who you are. You are a Christian. And our daughter. We want everything in this world for you. I have prayed for you everyday since you were born. God blessed us so much with you. Know this. Always remember your faith.

Love you baby,

Mom, Dad, Miler & Lucky

It's the end of the school year!

Miller painting last week

Summer is coming up so fast. Madison has only 5 days of school left. This week I'm helping with Madison's graduation. I head up decorations..we are decorating the gym on Thursday night and blowing balloons up Friday morning. I will be a busy bee. I have had to get helium, flowers's been kind of crazy. This weekend should be nice though. Saturday I may hit some yard sales in the area....gas is so high I'm staying in my area. Saturday night I'm making Paula Deen's Beer Butt Chicken....yum. Sunday is church and maybe laying out in the sun and working in the yard. Monday will be going to the pool at the club and ending the afternoon at mom's grilling.
But next week my kitchen gets torn up. New counter tops get laid on Tuesday..who hoo...they are finally done being made. I cannot wait. I also have a painter coming to re paint my master bath and the outside next week will be nuts.
Tonight we are going to my mom's it's her birthday......I hope you all have a great week.

My trip and Gas Prices.

Well it's Tuesday. Madison is out of school for the Elections. We have been to vote....gone to pick out momma a birthday present...gone to lunch at the mall and done some shopping for Madison. We are back home so Miller can nap. It's been rather hectic around here though.
We got home from St Louis Sunday night. And we had such a great time. We left town Saturday morning at 7am...arriving in St Louis by 10am. The guys went to their game and the girls drove on up to Wine Country. It was so much fun. We started with Stone Hill Winery and had lunch and went on a tour. We sampled some wines and bought some too. We then preceded on to Hermanoff Winery. We had a great guide on samples....she was great. We were running late and had to push on though...that area is so beautiful though. We headed back to St Louis and showered and ate dinner downtown. It was a great weekend. We shopped the next day and returned home. 16 people. A few little dis agreements....but over all it was fun. I cherish my friends. It's the dis respect I don't tolerate in a friendship.
So yesterday I went to the grocery store. And Miller and I chilled the rest of the day. I made Chicken Spaghetti which was so great. Yummy. Tonight I'm making Round Steak carrots and sweet peas with mac and cheese Paula Deen's style.
Summer feels like it is almost here. Hot. With gas prices coming up so high..what are you doing to save money> What are you cutting back on to pay for gas? I re arranged my grocery list the other day and cut back $100. I couldn't believe it. Scott is car pooling with a guy at work. And we are trying to stay home more and not go as much. I try to go maybe twice a week instead of 3 times a week. So give me your in put on saving $$$$.
Have a great day everyone.

Our Annual Trip

Our Annual Friend Trip is Saturday. And we are heading out to Hermann, Missouri's Wine Vineyards. There are 16 of us going. We are leaving bright and early Saturday morning. The men are going to a St Louis Cardinal game and the gals are heading to Wine Country. We have 3 Wineries we are going to tour and lots of wine to taste....We are having lunch at a quaint little resteraunt that once was a Horse Carriage Loft. We just can't wait to go.

It is suppose to be a beautiful weekend and the drive will be nice. I'm looking forward to some down time with friends.

There are so many different wines we want to try and how to drink them with cheeses and sausages. I love a good wine. Red or White.....or even the pink stuff.

The tours will be nice...the vineyards the they make it...what they do. I just find it all fascinating.

At the end of the day we plan on meeting up with our fellas and having a nice dinner out and maybe go listen to some bands....I love my time with my's nice to have them in my life.

Tuesday Chat

Today I'm still cleaning. I did bathrooms yesterday and laid in the sun. NICE. It was just 70 degrees and perfect. Today though I have floors to clean and laundry to finish. I'm feeling alot better. Miller is still coughing though. He is on a steroid, zrytek and hopefully he clears up soon. They had him on Albuterol too but I couldn't handle him jumping on I just hope he stops coughing... I go get my hair done tomorrow and need to run some errands. Miller will be with momma. He played outside yesterday and we have the trampoline put together and he loves it. Last night when we put him in bed...he was sleep talking....he said...lets jump one more time da cute.
I'm making Barb's Briskett today.....yum yum.
I hope you all have a great day.

I sure hope you all had a great Mother's Day Weekend. We survived. I'm sorta sick. A head cold. I have felt better. Madison feels better and Miller is on his steroid so he is better. I'm stuck with over the counter Decongestants and antihistamine's. Oh and some leftover anti biotics I have.
See I have a big weekend coming up. Something I'm saving for an end of the week post. I cant wait to share it with you. It's a trip.
SO this week isn't as full as last week. I'm glad last week is over. I have errands to run this week but trying to simplify them to 2 days since gas is 3.65 a gallon....YUCK!
Today is supposed to be beautiful so I though I would work on the house cleaning some and then go outside for a little while to play. Maybe have some lunch on the deck with Miller. At nap time...well I'm going to lay in the sun! So there you have day. Scott cooked dinner for me Saturday night...very good I may add.
Dinner tonight is Beef Enchiladas. Yum Yum. I hope you all have a great day. I'm off to take Madison to school early. It's her last news cast today.

And they are taking me to lunch after church tomorrow. So not that bad...huh?
We have some errands to run this morning and I may lay out in the sun while Miller naps.

Lexington Or Bust

So I have been waiting to tell you about Madison. She is on the Journalism team at school....along with this she does a news cast at school. She has been anchor and a reporter and LOVES it.
Last fall she and 9 other kids were chosen to do a presentation and take it to a local competition. They won. They were selected to go on to state. So on Monday afternoon my daughter was packed and ready to go to Lexington with these other 9 students. 4500 students in Ky were there at Rupp Arena for 2 1/2 days. I did not go. They had 4 Chaperone's. She had a ball. They did not win nor did they place but she went on a trip without me or Scott and had so much fun. She came home tonight with a sinus and allergy problem but over all had so much fun. I'm so proud of her. They believed in something and went for it.
Since she has been gone Scott and I have had to entertain Miller and do things special with him. We have gone to the park played outside bought him special little toys to open through out the day. Today was for me and Scott....see Scott played golf this morning while I watched Miller and then I had lunch with a friend and a pedicure. NICE.
So that is it.....Madison had so much fun. I was so proud on those 10 kids.
Tomorrow I'm cleaning the's going to rain and I need to do some major cleaning.

Let's talk

Come sit with me. We have been so busy since we last talked. Grab some ice tea...let's chat. Sunday we went to church and Scott golfed in the afternoon. Madison sang that night was their end of year choir performance. She did a great job and had a speaking part...she is great at speaking parts. Scott is off some this week. So we have been busy getting the yard together. Buying new pots and flowers. It's slowly coming together. Madison is involved with something big at school and I will tell you more about it later in the week. I'm so proud of her. It's Teacher Appreciation week so I have been busy making sure her teacher gets something every day. This will be the busiest week for us this month. Today we are still working in the yard. I may lay out if Miller would ever take his nap. We are looking at play sets for Miller for the back yard. They are so expensive but we really want him to have one. Tomorrow I'm having lunch with two great friends. And getting pedicures done. I'm looking forward to a foot rub. Scott goes back to work on Thursday. I have to finish with Mothers Day gifts this week along with working at school during lunch on Friday. It will be crazy this week...but it's all good. Dinner tonight is Chicken Cacciatore in the Crock Pot...over white rice and a Mandarin Orange Salad....yum yum.
This weekend I will be able to relax. No plans. It's Mothers Day so I plan on resting and hanging out with the kids. No plans I tell ya.
I hope you all are having a great week...

A Moment

A Sad Moment for our Fallen....Eight Belles......Rest in Peace.

It's Derby Day !!!!'s the most exciting 2 minutes in sports history. If you are around the television about 5pm EST today tune into the 134th Kentucky Derby..The Run for the Roses Baby.

The hats are so important for us Southern Gals...getting all dolled up and sporting around our men with a beautiful fruity drink in hand.

When the horn sounds the horses make their way to the gates....I'm normally on the end of my chair at this point....with a drink of course.

And speaking of drinks here is what we are famous for in the Blue Grass state besides Bourbon....

The Mint Julep

The horses are beautiful here in Kentucky....I love to watch them

This is the exciting part......yelling confused on which horse is yours...and hoping one doesn't get hurt.....

This is what they are running for The Roses....and yes they are some beautiful roses.

But in the end..only one wins and is honored .

Watch the's only 2 minutes....I promise you will love it.
