Christmas morning was at our home with Scott's parents and grandmother. I cooked a huge breakfast...bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, french toast casserole, and fresh pineapple (from Hawaii) A friend brought it to me for the holidays! The kids once again unwrapped gifts..Madison getting her IPod station alarm clock and Miller getting clothes...alot of them.
Scott and I got money this year along with some clothes and new shoes. We asked for cash mainly.
Christmas afternoon was spent with my mom's family and we had the most wonderful news that day. My aunt Glenda's (the one who past away) daughter Ashley got engaged. It was music to our ears. We ALL cried. We cried alot that day....missing Glenda, Christmas's past. But it was a good cry. You know moving on from something like this is very hard. Getting over something is very hard. Something that was once very strong.
I learned something very valuable this holiday season. It wont always be easy...this road we are on. You will have detours and bumps. I'm not used to these. But this month I had to learn to deal with it. I pray alot more. I pray for God to help me get through them as I cannot do it alone. I talk with God daily. It helps. It helps my soul, my mind and most of all.....my heart. I realize now people come and go in our lives. We should just be happy and blessed we knew them.
This Christmas was hard for me. And our family. But I truly believe God got us through it. And for this I send him praise.

Christmas is only 4 days away as I write this. Scott and Madison are both out for the holidays. So I'm signing off for a couple of days to make memories with my family. Enjoy and savor each moment you have this week with family and friends. In a blink of an eye they can be gone. This will be a most difficult one for my family in the loss of my sweet Aunt Glenda. (9/10)
So smile everyday. Laugh often. Hugs are really good......tell someone what they mean to you and thank God everyday for your blessings.
To my family and friends near and far...I leave you with this. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

Thank you so much Barb for this award....
Now for the meme....
5 things I love about Christmas
1. Christmas Music....we listen to it all the time. From the day after Miller's birthday 11/29 until the day after Christmas. I made me a Christmas CD last year and we listen to it in the car. We also get on XM radio as they have great choices as well. And when the tv is off we listen to it on the holiday channel....my favorite song would be Mary did you know.....but I also like All I want for Christmas is you.....
2. The lights. Whether they are on the tree or houses or mantels.....I could sit and watch them forever. I never get tired of looking at them. I like the colors and the white ones. We go looking lights right before Christmas...its tradition.
3. The little get together's with family and friends. It's nice to have this time of the year to sit back with them and talk and laugh and reminisce. Seeing old faces and new ones are wonderful. I enjoy the dinners and the parties and all the togetherness.
4. The church Christmas program each year. I love to hear the great music and to see the little ones sing and to hear the birth of Jesus...this time of year just makes it all so magical.
5. Watching the kids open their gifts is pretty amazing also. I love to see their expressions. The excitement and smiles just makes it all worth while.
I love so many things about Christmas. So I wanted to pass this award/meme along to some great woman I have met in Blogland....their spirit is so contagious.

Enjoy your day friends......
Some things I have left to do before Christmas is to buy 5 more gift cards...finish wrapping a few presents...make some more fudge....and toffee....and snow candy....cooking for 3 more dinner parties....which will be loads of fun.
Tonight is the first of three dinner parties....the menu is .... Swiss Chicken, green beans, tater tot casserole...bread...artichoke square appetizers....Poinsettia Punch with a little rum added. Dessert is triple Mud pie...with coffee and Baileys....
We have another dinner on Saturday night and another Tuesday night....so it will get busy around the house.
I sent Scott with a platter of goodies this morning for the office.....they enjoy my candy baking abilities...lol. Actually one guy asked for the White Lighting this year....he got his own little batch.
Madison and I had our own day yesterday. We had lunch out and shopped at the mall for awhile...ran to the library and picked up all 4 seasons of the Office so we can enjoy them throughout the holidays....laughing. She had her Christmas party at church last night and I baked brownies and frosted them....2 came home.
Today we are cleaning the house and cooking...Miller is going to work on a craft while we do this.
A day to stay home and get things done.
Enjoy the last days of the hustle and bustle everyone.

Well...we had an ice storm come visit us on Monday night. The streets are still bad. We got 1/4 inch of ice and some dusting of snow. Schools were canceled. And are today too. So we made all kinds of candy yesterday...Caramel Rice Krispie Treats....Fudge...Banana Sour Cream Bread...White Chocolate cranberries with pecans and and candy coated pecans....I still need to make some other things....but today we are venturing out. Miller is going to mom's and Madison and I are headed out to finish up some loose ties. Some shopping, some more ribbon to buy for presents, a run by the post office to mail some cards, a candy delivery to make....and a trip to the library if its open.
I made a big pot of veggie soup last night and it was so good. We had bread with it...and our sweets for dessert.
Christmas is almost here...unreal. We have two traditions with our little family that are coming up....this Friday night we are getting out our favorite Christmas movies....I'm making a Taco Bar for the kids and popping popcorn and we are hanging out in the family room all night...sleeping bags and all.
Then next Monday night we are getting in our pajamas with hot chocolate and taking the kids to look at Christmas lights...we love this one.
Well....that is about all.....I hope you all have a great day...talk to you soon.

I have been busy making out my grocery lists for Christmas. So many things to go to and cook for. I had a shopping day with an old dear friend yesterday. We really enjoyed our time together. Good talks and lots of laughs...the kind that makes your stomach hurt.
Things are starting to get crazy around here....we have something almost every night. I dont like it that way it just happens.
Madison is going to her first semi formal winter dance tomorrow night. We got a dress. That was hard watching her try on all of the fancy little dresses. But she picked a good one and I'm doing her make up and hair. Dont worry everyone...Scott is chaperoning it.
I think I'm getting a new do tomorrow. I'll let you know so I don't chicken out.
The weekend holds alot of running for us. We have several parties and they are all back to back. I need to do some laundry also.
I only have 4 more gifts to get and still need to wrap. Which I plan on doing during nap time today. Miller wants to un wrap everything.....so I'm wrapping and hiding.
We have started planning our Disney trip for next year. It's going to be exciting. We are looking forward to it.
I hope you all have a great day.

What a week since we talked last. My tree has gone up twice. I originally always decorate it in pinks and golds...now I have a boy...so we are now all reds golds and whites....(alot of santas). I completely decorated it and took it all down..and re decorated it. Yes...I'm nuts. I was looney when it was all said and done. But the house is decked and the halls are done. We are officially decorated. I start baking soon... I have done some candy. Went to a cookie exchange and had a blast. Enjoyed myself with great woman.
My dear friend F from high school is here all month and we have been hanging together alot. It's nice to have her around. My dear friend C is thinking of coming to see me in Feb....which I cannot wait. That will be nice.
My birthday was great. Had alot of people I haven't seen nor spoke to in years email or call. I was so surprised. Even an old boss called. Birthdays mean alot to me. They have always been special. Scott took me out Saturday night. We had a really good time. Tonight we went with my parents to a local restaurant and had a nice meal. Instead of cake for dessert they sent me a tequila shot in a jalapeno pepper...and let me just tell you.....hot hot hot baby....I had to soak my mouth in ice water....lol.
But i had a good time. I spent the day with mom....and we had fun.
Tomorrow we have a play date set up with F and her son. Miller has a haircut. (say a prayer for me) and gymnastics....
I should be finishing up my Christmas shopping this week. Almost done. Which makes me feel really good.
Miller is getting a fish (pish as he calls it) from Santa. We babysat the neighbors fish over Thanksgiving and he fell in love with Sparkles. So.....I need to get the pish on Christmas Eve.....
Christmas cards are slowly going out this week. And neighbors will be getting their goodies this weekend.
I love this time of year...I can smell the fresh pine and it smells like Christmas.
Enjoy your week everyone....
From the learning rooms...since we are getting down to Christmas I may just work on numbers this month and talk about Jesus and his birth.
I'am thinking....that I'm 34 today. It's my birthday.
I'am thankful.....for heat, my house, paid for vehicles, and sales.
I'am going...I'm going out with momma today. A girls day.
From the kitchen this week...Mostaccioli, Breakfast, Burgers on the grill, Chicken Divan, Toffee, and more peanut butter balls, and Banana Sour Cream Bread for the neighbors
I am wearing..a warm up suit...its pink
I am reading...Martha Stewart's holiday cookbook and entertaining
I am hoping...to get presents wrapped this week.
I am creating...an area to wrap those presents in the laundry room.
I am hearing...nothing..Scott and Madison are gone and Miller is sleeping still. Silence.
Around the house..cleaning floors, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, and stripping sheets.
One of my favorite things...a foot rub.
Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...gymnastics, church, coffee with a friend, shopping with a friend and lunch, playdate with MOPS, hair app and nail appointment, Madison has her first winter dance to attend, semi formal. we have our MOPS Chrismtas party on Sunday night, and Sunday School Christmas Party on Saturday night.
Miller was sick last week...high high fever....he is healing and better now. Today I turn 34. A friend recently told me that Glamor magazine said turning 34 was the best year yet. You felt confident and really good about yourself...we will see.
A picture thought I wanted to share with you.

Good Morning. The sun is finally shining today. We had some pretty snow fall yesterday...nothing to stick..but pretty to watch. I had hot cocoa and sat next to the tree during nap time...it was nice..quiet alone time. I enjoy moments like this. I started my December devotions yesterday. Keeping myself accountable to give thanks each day and pray. Sometimes I forget to give it all to him.
Miller and I are going to put up the Christmas Decorations outside today. Hoping it goes well. Scott didn't get it done this past weekend...it was too yuck outside. We don't do Christmas decor until after Miller's birthday anyway.
Alot of you asked for my White Lightning Recipe and I posted it on my food blog.....I also posted another goody around this house in December so go check it out.
The rest of the week will be very busy. But fun busy. Christmas Parties start up for us. That is always fun.
I have done my first of two grocery shoppings for the holidays....came out right at $300 for 2 weeks which isn't bad for all I cook. I have gone over menus and things to bake...candy to make and fun stuff to make. I'm really excited about the holidays this year. Last year not so much.
Alot of you noticed my birthday is next week..thanks for the wishes already. My birthday is next Monday. Last year it sorta got forgotten but I dont really want to talk about that. This year I'm keeping it low key. Simple. Scott and I have plans. I'm happy.
On another note....Miller wont talk potty training...so I may just wait until after the holidays. There is alot of excitement going on.
I finished my decorating inside finally. I may change my tree up next year...thinking about going all red...I will need to hit the sales the day after Christmas.
I guess I have talked enough. I need to make some breakfast and get us ready and attempt the outside lights. We have a little Christmas party to attend tonight for my dear friend Kim who had Cooper....Cooper is home by the way and doing well. The party is to celebrate them...and I'm really looking forward to it.
I found a new coffee creamer...vanilla spiced rum and it is yummy...try it. Have a nice day today friends....tomorrow is my day off....lunch with friends and coffee with a friend....its going to be good.

Scott is off work today. We are taking Miller to the library and to lunch. Big day out. I love days with Scott. He is so easy to do things with. We got Miller's bedding this past weekend...jungle safari to stay with his room decor. His bed will be set up on his birthday while we pre occupy him.....big surprise.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner at church last night. I love turkey and dressing and I love it when the ladies at church cook it. They do such a great job. Our bible study was powerful last night. we had some woman break down and it was good.....good they felt the holy spirit talking to them. A friend of mine's husband was saved on Sunday so God is all around me.....holding me up, encouraging me and holding my hand. God is so good.
As for the next couple of days....I'm doing some major Christmas shopping, some birthday shopping, dinner with my dear aunts (I cannot wait to do)....and a day to myself....a MOPs Council meeting on Saturday.....which should be awesome, and Sunday back to church.
We are going into the holidays and life is good......enjoy your day!

........enough money within her control to move out, rent a place of her own in case she ever wants to or need to.
........something perfect to wear if the employer or a date of her dreams wants to see her in a hour.
........a youth she is content to leave behind.
........a past juicy enough that she is looking forward to retell in her old age.
........the realization that she is actually going to have an old age and some money set aside to fund it.
........a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
........one friend who always makes her laugh, one who lets her cry.
........a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone in her family.
........eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, a recipe for a meal that will make her guest feel honored.
........a resume that not even the slightest padded.
........a feeling of control over her future.
Every woman should know.......how to quit a job, break up with a boyfriend, and confront a friend without ruining her friendship.
.......when to try harder and when to walk away.
.......how to have a good time at a party she would never have chose to attend.
.......when to try harder and when to walk away.
.......how to ask for what she wants in a way that makes it most likely, she will get it.
.......that she cannot change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents.
.......that her childhood may not have been perfect but it is over.
.......what she would or would not do for love or more.
......how to live alone even if she does not like it.
......whom she can trust, whom she cannot and why she should not take it personally.
.......where to go, whether it be her best friends kitchen table, or a charming inn in the woods if her soul needs soothing.
.......what she cannot accomplish in a day, month and a year.
......how to fall in love without losing herself.

I do love this time of year. Miller turns 3 right after Thanksgiving. We have gotten him a Big Boy Bed....I have been looking for bedding for him. His room is done in Safari Animals....I have found some things but nothing great yet. So if you know of something that I don't know about it...let me know.
Miller and I have some things to do today. We need to run to Kohls and then grocery shop. The dreaded grocery shopping. My two times a month thing. By the time I leave I'm drained and seeing things....no really...I normaly nap that day.
We are watching our budget as it is that time of year. I scale the cabinets and look for meals before menu planning.
A few meals I came up with are....chicken pot pie, homemade pizza....breakfast...tuna casserole...now for the meals i need to buy for....roast and potatoes...sausage bean soup....hashbrown bake....spaghetti...chicken and dressing....taco casserole....the rest of the nights are either leftovers or frozen pizza...or eating out...thats it for dinners for us for 2 weeks...how did I do? I dont freeze many meals as I never have much luck with this. I enjoy cooking though. Although I'm including cleaning supplies, medicine, cards, trash bags in the mix....hopefully I can do it all under $200....fingers crossed.
I'll keep you posted....talk to you soon.
