Just another chat

Good Morning. It's a cold morning today. Very Cold. We have been getting ready for Madison's birthday this week. I'm cooking her favorites for a family dinner on Saturday night. Not sure what we are doing during the day as she has volleyball practice early that morning. Madison will be 11. Unreal she is that old already. Seems only yesterday we took her home from the hospital. Time surely goes by too fast.

On a lighter sister Cassie and her husband come home for good March 12th. They will be living in Tennessee. We are extremely proud of their journey and very happy to have them coming home. 3 years is long enough.

We went shopping for Easter clothes yesterday and found Miller a 4 piece suit.....OH.MY.GOSH.
That is the cutest thing I have ever seen. His dress shirt is aqua. He will be the most cutest kid in church that day. Madison gets a hair cut after school and then we are going to the mall for her to try on dresses....the reason for this? This weekend will be crazy for Easter shopping so I want to get it over with. We are going to eat out there too...Scott will be meeting us as Dillard's is having their 40% off clearance sale....which we love those kinds of sales.

I spoke earlier about taking our family trip to California this year. Well....we are not going. The airline tickets and the rest of the trip was close to running us $4000 and I just cant imagine doing that. Maybe another now we cant decide where to go. I normally have vacations planned by the second week of February....nope not this year.

Miller and I plan on staying in today, I think I may exercise today....start at least. I hope you have a great Thursday.

Happy Anniversary Scott.....14 years.....I love you.

Doing some cleaning

So this morning I'm going to start cleaning the house....deep cleaning. I have made a baseboards, light fixtures, walls, I recently picked up the Martha Stewart House Cleaning Book and it is wonderful. I'm going to try to clean at least 3 days this week. The other 2 will be running. Madison turns 11 on Saturday and I need to pick her gifts up and get them wrapped and well you know the rest.

We had a nice weekend. It was cold. We awoke yesterday morning to a light dusting of snow.
It was really pretty. We didn't go back to church last night as I was really tired.

I plan on making a Tater Tot Casserole tonight with green beans on the side. It's been really nice having my momma back.

I'll talk to you all soon.

Weekend Talk

Good morning everyone. It's the weekend. I love the weekends. I wanted to let you know what is going on over here.

My Parents got home yesterday afternoon!!!!! Can you here me singing? was wonderful.
The kids were very excited. We had a dinner auction at Madison's school last night so Miller stayed with mom and dad. It was nice to spend some time with just Madison.

Scott is working today. So I'm going to sign her up for Volleyball and we are going to run around.
I need to catch up on my laundry later today.

Yesterday was grocery day. It wasn't that bad.

My parents brought me home some fresh Florida grapefruit and strawberries. I love fruit.

Scott's parents leave for a week long cruise this morning. Scott's grandmother is sick.

Our MOPS group was canceled Thursday due to the ice. That was a bummer.

We are trying to book our family summer vacation. We are not sure what we are doing. We cant do California now....different reasons...we will go next year. So do we go to the beach as always or do something different and totally not us? I need some suggestions if you know of somewhere out there that we would have a great time at.

We have church tomorrow. I'm hoping my parents come back......they were visiting our church before they left.

Scott is going out on a guys night out tonight so I'm either staying here and making it movie night or taking the kids to our MOPS family night to Glow Golf....not sure yet. I guess I will see how they act today.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks for the prayers for my parents to come home....

Ice Storm Part II

Here we go again. Ice Storm part 2. My parents are in route home today. Pray they make it safe with all the rains in Alabama and now this up through Tennessee and Kentucky. The ice woke me up at 4am hitting my bedroom window. School is out again. So far we are going through May 30th now.....GREAT! The roads are covered....and it is steadily coming down. We have had the craziest winter ever.
So today I'm going to put on a pot of Veggie Soup and make some homemade bread. Scott will be out in this all day and I want him to have something warm when he gets home. Lost and Survivor is on tonight so great night on TV.
I'm going to do somethings around the hose today so you all have a good warm day! Who's ready for pool parties and flip flops?

It's Monday

Well today Madison is out of school again. It's Presidents Day. We are going to eat lunch with Scott's grandma. Then we are going shopping for Easter clothes. I'm wanting them to kind of match even though Madison keeps saying that wont happen. It will.
We ended up not going to church yesterday morning. But went last night. Scott finally got caught up at work yesterday. Hooray!

This week I'm going to lunch with a friend tomorrow and Miller. We are going to Burger King so he can play and we can actually talk. We have gymnastics tomorrow night too.

Wednesday I plan on cleaning the house and going to my bible study......and the rest of the week will be hopefully quiet.

My parents come home friday....hip hip hooray! Madison has a dinner at school that night so Miller is going to Mimi's and Papaw's as soon as they come home. But they cant wait.

I have found a new website for new recipes....the Pillsbury Bake Off ....and wow what wonderful recipes. Tonight we are having Chicken Roll Ups...I'll let you know..

For my 7 can Soup the recipe is

1 can chili with beans
1 can chili with out beans
1 can whole kernel corn
1 can veggie soup
1 can tomato soup
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can of Rotel

Mix all together and put in your Crock Pot for 4-5 hours on low all day.....very good with Corn Chips and Shredded Cheese.....and great left over.

Well. I hope you all have a great Monday.

What's going on over here

Guess what? Today is Girls Day Out! I cannot wait. Me and my girlfriends....8 of us are meeting at a local Mexican Resteraunt for lunch and margaritas....then we are going shopping. We haven't done this in awhile so I'm so excited we are getting to do this. Our sweet husbands are watching our children so we as women can have our time. I cannot wait...did I mention this?

My parents come home next Friday...hooray. Things were not great this week as everything went wrong. But things are looking up now.

Scott has to work tomorrow so I'm taking the kids to church by myself which is fine...I can do this. With all the ice we had this past week people are still out of phone service. He works until noon today so I can get out....I love that man.

I'm taking a meal to our friends Nate tonight....I'm cooking a roast in the Crockpot for them. His cancer is still there...they are treating him with a new chemo.

Valentines Day is over....we had a nice steak dinner in the Dining was really good. We all had a nice time.

Madison's party went well...I advise you parents who are room moms to do the Banana Split Party huge success...the kids loved it! I also bought 21 Hershey Bars and wrapped them only cost me about $12 total for the bars and this was pretty big for them too.

The kids are out of school Monday for Presidents Day. We are going to eat lunch with Scott's grandma and go look for Easter clothes. Madison is finishing up a school project today.

I cant really believe it and kind of scared to mention it but we are all healthy right now.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend......did I mention I cannot wait for lunch today......yeah!

Our Love Story

Andrea over at Sgt and Mrs. Hub is hosting "Our Love Stories" today........since it's Valentines Day I thought I would play along. So hop on over in between your chocolates and get to reading....
Eating at the Olive Garden with family
5 months pregnant with Miller at a very hot Luau in July
Having dinner with friends at a Japanese Resteraunt and yes I'm sun burned here

Dinner at Demo's in Nashville Tn
Brunch at the Opryland Hotel with friends at Christmas
Opryland Hotel
Huge Christmas Tree at Opryland Hotel
Christmas Party with friends

15 years ago......I went with about 15 friends to Daytona Beach, Florida..yes it was Spring Break..WHOOOOOOO! We ran into the snowstorm of 93...and normally for a 15 hour drive turned into a 28 hour drive. It was cold.....and crazy. When we finally arrived...we know the party's that you went to as a teen....we drank and danced and stayed up all night and drank some more. Anyway,,,,,this is a family blog I know. I was dating someone from home and it really wasn't working out. Scott....was introduced to me and followed me around all week...everytime I was anywhere..there he was like a puppy dog. I found it amusing at first not looking for anything...trying to deal with the mess back home. We had some good talks and a couple of drinks...laid on the beach together but that was it!!!!
I even went home a day early. Scott was down on Spring Break too with another group. See we are from the same town he is 4 years older....went to rival schools and even knew of one another just never got around to meeting....when we got home he found my phone # and called 2-3 times a day. I told him I needed to deal with some things before dating. And I did....but it took about 2 months......Scott never gave up once a week he would call just to see how things were going. I finally got over my "mess" and he asked me out. We went to dinner and a movie. It was fun.....but I didn't want anything serious. So I distanced myself. A Friend of mine H said she had seen Scott at a local club dancing with my friends and hitting on one of them......well, it made me mad it made me furious...but most of all it made me see.....she lied...she wanted to see if I really liked him....and I did. So the next day I called him.....and well...its not over yet........we got close and he without talking to me about it in listed into the military. USAF. And tried to break up with me. That just about killed me. I wouldn't give up. He went off to basic and I stayed as close to his family as my own. Went with them to graduation and visited as often as I could. 2 months later Scott came home for Christmas.....he proposed to me......we dated 6 months......were married in 2 months and moved to all happened so fast....but I don't regret a thing. 15 years later......I would do it again, and again, and again, he is my morning, noon and night. He is what makes me tick...he is the world to me. People ask all the time how do we make it work....honesty, laughter, and love. And most of all respect. Scott shows me everyday how much life means to us...and that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I believe in this and I believe in him.
We will celebrate 14 years on the 26th of this month......I love him as much today as I did 14 years ago......

Ice and Snow

It is still snowing here...I got my wish. The roads are still not great. School is out again today. And Madison is so tired of being in the house. SO......after lunch we are venturing out. I have some errands to run anyway so maybe this will help her. The snow is so pretty this morning.

So I need to go make breakfast and start getting ready. Andrea @ Sgt and Mrs. Hub wants us to write about our love stories with our spouses tomorrow....go over and see her I think that would be perfect for our Valentines Day don't you?

Have a great day everyone.....I'll be writing about me and Scott's love story tomorrow.....have a great Wednesday.

Ie Ice and more Ice

I wanted to update you all with a picture in my back yard.....isnt it beautiful? School has been called off now.....whoo hoo.
I love this picture. Doesn't it look inviting? We woke up to a Winter Wonderland of Ice....yes Ice.
The schools are running 2 hours Madison is sleeping in. They dis missed classes at noon yesterday due to the Ice Storm we got. We lost power last night at about 9:30 and re gained it at midnight. The house was 60 degrees by the time the power came back on. I have each bed toppled over with blankets.
I got up this morning and made sausage ones. Scott loves them. There is just so much ice everywhere....crazy.

I'm making 7 can soup for dinner...if you want the recipe let me know and I will get it to you. It is really good on a nasty day like today.

We have gymnastics tonight. I need to get out today or tomorrow if possible to get Miller a Valentine present..I have Madison's.

Well....I need to go shower. Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon.

Weekend Re Cap

Good Morning. It's finally the weekend. What a week. Here is what has gone on.

We had a MOPS meeting and it was good.....since it's Valentines Day we talked about Sex in the Bedroom.

My bible study is almost over but I so have enjoyed the time with these women.

Had some great talks with dear friends this week.

Planning a summer vacation.

Alot of you asked on what kind of camp Madison is going to's church camp about 2 hours from here.

Scott and Madison went to a High school basketball game last night...our rival schools.

I'm very excited to say the Backyardigans are coming to our area and I'm getting tickets for me and Miller.

I went to the grocery yesterday and my friend C watched Miller. That was really nice.

I pulled something in back Wednesday night but it ended up being plurasy....which I had leftover steroids from when I had bronchitis last month and that took care of it....I feel much better.

I have talked about the storms and they have come and gone.....

Today I'm doing some laundry. Scott works until noon. I'm cooking.

Me and Madison may hit the library this afternoon.

My car needs servicing and cleaned out we may do this.

Valentines Day is coming up.....I still need to pick Miller up something.

I have my dinner already planned.

Well...that is enough for now. I will talk to you all Monday. Have a great weekend.

A Storm Part 2

I found this on Yahoo News this morning and wanted to share this with you all. This weather on Tuesday was just devastating and I know I talked about it yesterday. But take a minute and read this....I was just so sad over this.

We need to pray for this community and these families......

LAFAYETTE, Tenn. - County Mayor Shelvy Linville could only shake his head at the horrific toll left by a deadly series of tornadoes that pounded across the South.

"It really is unbelievable that Mother Nature can create that much devastation," he said Wednesday evening at his Macon County home. "We need your prayers."

Rebuilding has barely begun in this northern Tennessee community and in the others where dozens of tornadoes ripped across Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama, killing at least 55 people and injuring hundreds more in the nation's deadliest set of twisters in more than two decades.

"I'm surprised that I'm alive," said Telia Sorrells, 24, who survived one twister that left only parts of two walls standing in her home. A gash on her head required eight staples at a hospital to close.

Federal and state emergency teams poured into the hardest-hit areas, along with utility workers and insurance claims representatives.

President Bush, who said he called the governors of the affected states to offer support, plans to come to Tennessee on Friday. "Prayers can help and so can the government," Bush said.

Thirty-one people were killed in Tennessee, 13 in Arkansas, seven in Kentucky and four in Alabama, emergency officials said. It was one of the 15 worst tornado death tolls since 1950, and the nation's deadliest barrage of tornadoes since 76 people were killed in Pennsylvania and Ohio on May 31, 1985.

Among the most remarkable survival stories: in Castalian Springs, Tenn., a baby was discovered unscathed in a field across from a demolished post office. A bystander swaddled the crying child in his shirt. There was no word on the child's parents' fates.

"He had debris all over him, but there were no obvious signs of trauma," said Ken Weidner, Sumner County emergency management director.

The National Weather Service issued more than 1,000 tornado warnings from 3 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 11-state area where the weather was heading. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., put out an alert six days in advance.

There were no comprehensive estimates yet on damages, but the tornadoes' paths left behind flattened streets and treelines, shredded mobile homes, flipped-over tractor-trailers and trucks, and concrete floors where homes, garages and carports once stood.

Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, who viewed the northern Tennessee damage by helicopter, said after his aerial tour: "It looks like the Lord took a Brillo pad and scrubbed the ground."

Weather conditions were ripe for tornadoes and forecasters were ready with warnings and in many hard-hit areas, sirens and TV warnings were credited with helping keep the death toll from being even worse.

In the mostly rural area of Lafayette, there are no tornado sirens. Linville, the county mayor, said he didn't think they would have made much difference because of the way the 23,000 residents are spread out.

"You don't really think it's going to hit you until you realize it's on top of you, then it's too late," he said.

Just outside town, Melissa Bryant watched as friends picked through the heavily damaged home where her 78-year-old mother Dorothy Collins survived in a bathroom.

"It's devastating and terrible," Bryant said. "But she's very lucky; she's alive."

The two-story garage was gone, and in a yard filled with debris, the bellows of a bull that neighbors said had been injured by a fallen tree could be heard from hundreds of yards away.

Students took cover in dormitory bathrooms as the storms closed in on Union University in Jackson, Tenn. More than 20 students at the Southern Baptist school were trapped behind wreckage and jammed doors after the dormitories came down around them.

With five minutes' warning from TV news reports, Nova and Ray Story huddled inside their home outside Lafayette and came out unscathed. But nearby, their uncle, Bill Clark, was injured in his toppled mobile home.

They put him in the bed of their pickup to take him to a hospital, and neighbors with chain saws tried to clear a path. What normally would have been a 30-minute drive to the hospital took well more than two hours because the roads were clogged with debris. Clark died on the way.

"He never had a chance," Nova Story said. "I looked him right in the eye and he died right there in front of me."

Sorrells, who with her mother and her mother's boyfriend filled garbage bags with belongings pulled from the rubble of her home Wednesday evening, said she was sitting on her couch watching storm coverage on television and talking with her mother by cell phone when the power abruptly went out.

"Something is hitting the house," she told her mother. Then, "It's here!"

The next thing she knew, she said, "I was looking up at sky."

The Storm

We had crazy weather last night. But we made it. Tornadoes all around us. 44 semis turned over just miles from us. A University campus in devastation just an hour from here. We dodged a HUGE bullet. For this I'm thankful. Last I heard over 40 people confirmed dead in the surrounding areas.
Stop and give thanks today people. We have so much to be thankful for.

Some stuff to talk about

Good Morning everyone. The weather here today is supposed to get ugly. So me and Miller are staying in. It's quiet in the house this morning. Miller is still sleeping and Scott took Madison early to school. I have started some laundry and since we were all sick last week I didnt get alot of house work done. So....I'm working on bathrooms and floors today.

Alot of you asked for my Mexican Lasagna is so just have to try this one.

Mexican Lasagna

1 pkg Lasagna Noodles

1 ½ ground beef

1 pkg Taco Seasoning

1 can corn with red and green peppers

½ cup water

1-8 ounce cream cheese onion & chive

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese/ monterary jack blend

1 can enchiladas sauce

1 can green enchiladas sauce

1 medium jar pace picante sauce with cilantro

Cook and drain noodles…..brown ground beef…drain. Add 1 pkg of Taco Seasoning, 1 can of the corn with peppers, ½ cup of water…..mix. Add to the mixture, cream cheese onion and chive and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese/ Monterary jack blend, the can of enchiladas sauce and the can of green enchiladas sauce..the medium picante sauce…mix very well on medium heat. Put a small of beef mixture on bottom of a 9x13 pan sprayed w//PAM. Layer noodles, beef and some more cheese on top…alternate until all used and end with sprinkled cheese…Cover with foil. Bake @ 375 for 45 minutes….

You will not regret making this and you will have plan on it in your meal plan for 2-3 days......we love this. Scott says its the best thing I make....compliment......

So we got through last week. What a week. Now I have Valentines Day to get through. I need to call parents today for the party at school. We are going to do Ice Cream Sundaes and they are going to decorate Valentine Boxes....I thought something different with the Sundaes would be nice. I need to pick up Madison's teacher something....maybe a gift card to Sonic. Lunch is always nice. I have Madison something for Valentines...she got a new Hollister Bag and she wanted the Kangaroo webkinz......Miller I'm not so sure yet. I'm going to grill Steaks that night and looking for a fabulous desert to make. What are your plans for Valentines Day?

My parents are doing well. They have 2 1/2 weeks left before they come and I'm ready for them. I miss my mom.

Scott and I have been trying to figure out wears me out.
Madison is going to camp for the first time......I'm a little worried.
I know she will do fine. I went in 4th grade when I was young....

Well....enough for now. I need to get the chicken out so I can get dinner in the works...we are having Parmesan Chicken tonight.
Have a great Tuesday.
