Holiday Tips

A few tips this holiday season...

Refuse to let heavy traffic and long lines dampen your Christmas spirit.

Fix yourself a cup of hot cocoa and read "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost.

Never give a gift that's not nicely wrapped.

Put white lights on your house plants.

Make a friend of an enemy this Christmas.

On a clear night, find the bright North Star and recall the story of the Wise Men.

Teach children to look at the gift tag Before they open the present so they will know whom to thank.

Be a generous giver.

Be a gracious receiver.

Make it a holiday practice to do something nice for someone without telling them you did it.

Be the first to lob a snowball and start a battle.

Buy a big red candle for the dining table and light it every night during the holidays.

Attend a children's Christmas pageant.

Never give someone else's child a gift you would not want your own child to receive.

Open Christmas cards as a family activity each night at the dinner table. Read the messages aloud.

Give someone who's discouraged the gift of encouragement.

Make your family feel just as important as your holiday company.

Pay a debt for someone.

Add a new Christmas cassette or CD to your collection each year.

Offer to carry someone's packages.

Plan a quiet evening with your family the week after Christmas. Talk about your goals for the coming year.

Go ice skating.

Dress the kids for bed, then get in the car to see Christmas lights.

If you're feeling hurried, go to a church, sit in the sanctuary, and reflect on the real meaning of Christmas....very good advice...God will help you!

Introduce a shy person to others at the office Christmas party.

Keep plenty of apple cider and microwave popcorn on hand for unexpected guests.

Don't forget, no matter how many Christmas photos you take, next year you'll wish you had taken more.

This Christmas, write letters to several people who have had a positive influence on your life. Thank them for the gift they have given you.

Let someone else have the parking space you've just found. Think of it as a gift to a strange

The Christmas Photo

How many of you do a Christmas Photo? I hate to get it together. We quit paying a professional awhile back. I left totally stressed...Scott complained of getting dressed up and honestly the price was nuts. But then we found a woman who did it on the side for a great price and we grabbed her...but life goes on and she married and moved away.
So....that leads it to me. So for the past 4 years I have taken our family Christmas photo. The first year wasn't so bad....as Miller was a new born and Madison and he had matching pajamas and Madison had a Santa hat on her head. The card read look what Santa brought me for Christmas. The second year...we couldn't keep Miller still in front of my parents fireplace. You have Madison in her picture perfect pose and Miller trying to come after me in every pose.....he was a brand new one that year. The third year we did yet again a Christmas Tree pose....and it worked out...we will just say that...good enough all the aunts called loving it. Last year I actually got a good one in front of my fire place...but forgot to add the holiday scene border around it at Walmart...which totally stressed me out after printing 60 copies....no going back.
This year.....I'm done. I dressed them in red and grey with jeans....thru a blanket on the ground outside..(because we are having great weather for November) and started shooting the camera...gave them some poses...didn't really know where I was going...didn't really care...just knew I would surely get a good one somewhere in the mix. Remember Miller is now almost 4. SO he listens..................sometimes. On a good day.

I brought the camera inside last night and loaded the pictures tot he computer and pulled up Snapfish.com....and created our perfect Christmas card. It's not perfect. But its better than I imagined it would be.
I'm not sure why I get so crazy over a holiday picture...maybe its because all 60 people we send it to dissects it or maybe its wanting your kids to listen to you for 30 minutes. Or maybe its just because you want to be remember the holidays with this picture. I don't know.
Our photos are done. Hallelujah.....they are ordered and should be on my doorstep by Monday. I'm so glad its over....let the holidays begin!

My take on Disney World

We started planning our trip to Disney a year in advance. We new where we wanted to stay and all the things we wanted to do. I would sit down in the mornings and search the web for new things at Disney. Some things we would do again and again and again...and some we would pass up.
Here they are...

1. Food....all the food started to taste alike and look the same by day 3. But the Garden Grill wasn't our favorite food wise. The atmosphere was great and the character part was great. Yet the food was just not what we expected for Disney food.
The best food we had and experience at a restaurant was the Whispering Canyon Cafe located in Fort Wilderness. The food was great.....the ribs the chicken....all so good. The gave us so much to eat...and the atmosphere was awesome. We all loved it.....and still talk about it today.

2. Parks.....We love Magic Kingdom by far. Took us 3 days to do it. Something about the park that makes every adult feel like a kid. I could go thru that park everyday.
Now all the parks are great with their own thing going on......we dont do the water parks as each hotel has a small water parkish thing going on.....

3. Rides....we all talked and by far Soarin was our favorite ride. Such a cool thing to exp. We also love other rides such as The Tower of Terror, Toy Store mania, Splash mtn and the Rocky mtn Roller Coaster. Some rides we wouldnt waste time on again would be....Stitchs Great Escape...not what we remembered it as...alot of bad smells, any ride that resembled the Dumbo ride...and there were 2 others like it in different parks....

4. Shows....we did alot of shows after lunch as the temps were very high that week and we needed a break after our tummies were full. We enjoyed all of them to be honest...Playhouse Disney was awesome, its tough to be a bug, monsters Inc, and Nemo the musical a few of our favorites.....i dont think there were any on our list we would not see again....one piece of advice though..dont go on a water ride before going into any of the shows....you will freeze to death.

5. Disney Resorts....we stayed at Carribean Beach...last time it was Port Orleans...both great places, family friendly. I would highly recommend either of them.
I would not stay off property....i think you miss too much. Just my opinion.

6. Dining Plan....Do it. We did the table service and fast food with one snack a day plan....it worked out perfect....do it. Enough said.

7. Dining Reservations...make them..highly recommended. Dont wait...you wont get what you want.

8. Characters...they are everywhere..so if you dont get those great shots the first day...you have the rest of the week and you will get them.

I love to plan trips...a hobby i guess. But Disney planning is awesome. I have all the tricks and tips you need....email me anytime for your Disney planning.

Over all...we had a blast. It was an unforgettable trip. Something we will always treasure. Disney is a magical place for all ages. I highly recommend you go.

Hugs and Pixie Dust!

The last day....Hollywood Studios.

So our morning began in front of the "Hat" and we began our journey into Hollywood Studios. What an awesome day we had. This place rocks....we could have done 2 days in it.

Down Sunset Blvd....there are several famous looking cars to which Miller HAD to have his picture made in front of.

Again.....

One of the new attractions here was American Idol...the fans we are....we went and sat in the audience and checked it out...so cool..we got to vote. It was pretty awesome.

Our lunch reservation was at Playhouse Disney Live and Dine....this has been a staple show in our household for almost 4 years now. Miller loves it. The lunch was okay....but the company was awesome...we saw Jo Jo and Goliath and the Little Eisensteins....pretty cool.

We went and found Miller's other heros. Lightning and mater.....Miller thought they would talk....he wanted to get into the cars....see how he is hugging Lightning?

This was Miller's first Disney movie he sat and watched the whole way thru...Monsters Inc.....so when he walked in and there stood Mike and Sully......he smiled so big....it was awesome. The helper asked what my first Disney Movie was....I couldnt really remember...I think Cinderella.

Here we are at Honey i Shrunk the Kids Play Ground...a great place to let the kids run and let it all out.
Which they did.

This was our last spot of the day. It was long but worth it.

Tomorrow the over view of the whole trip...tips for Disney and what we wished we had done and what we wont do again....

Day 5 at Epcot

We started the day at Epcot. Here are the kids in the sharks mouth from Nemo. This was a great picture of them.

We made our way thru the countries. Here is Miller being funny. The kids were bored during the countries.

Madison, Miller and me in front of the Golf Ball.

The American Adventure is to go to Disney World!

In Kids Cot.....take a break coloring a mask.

The gardens here are beautiful.

We did dinner this night at the Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios....the food was great and the theme of the restaurant was alot of fun..."elbows off the table please"
We ended our evening watching the show Fantasmic...a must see....dont miss this great show for your kids!!!

Our host...Mickey.
We rode Soarin this day and it was awesome...so cool...we also watched several shows...we didnt get to do Test Track as a down pour came and they stopped the ride....but we had a good day..

Tomorrow....our last day in Disney...Hollywood Studios.
