The calm after the storm.

A quick update. We had a very bad ice storm here in Paducah on Tuesday night and Wednesday. We were out of power until today at noon. My home is still without power....I'm at grandma's. Hoping to have power tomorrow. It has been trying. Our trip to the mountains was canceled. We were under a state of emergency and Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel has been here. I have never seen anything like it. Over an inch and half of ice on trees. 3 inches of snow on top of it. Trees falling everywhere. I will be posting pictures when we get back home. It is like a hurricane in winter has hit us. We are safe, have heat, gasoline, and food. Life is trying due to being cooped up with Miller and Madison and Scott's 84 yr old grandma.
Pray for us.

Some things

(The Mountains in west Tn)

Good Morning. It is still dark here this morning. I'm up early to make over 50 cups of hot cocoa for the MOPS Spa Day this morning. We have massage therapists coming in from the local vocational school. And we are doing paraffin on our hands and a satin lip day for us moms.
The house is quiet. I can here the dog eating. Scott and Madison are starting to get up and get ready.
Today is grocery day. I have split mine up into two days which works better for me and Miller. It's hard doing major shopping with a little one.
Yesterday I went looking for snow boots....and WOW...there are not many around. I did finally find a pair at K Mart for $15 on clearance.
Madison has a busy weekend. She has movie night Friday night at church. And on Saturday night she has been invited to a Murder Mystery Party. I love those. She is really excited. She has to wear a long evening I'm on the hunt for one. lol.
Around here we are just living day to day. Gearing up for our trip to the mountains next Friday.
Tomorrow I dont have alot going on. I may hit another grocery store and hang out at home, we have gone everyday or had someone here almost everyday.
I need to do some laundry and work on some things for church.
I hope you all are doing well. I may have to call a dermatologist for little Miller. His rash from his underwear still hasnt gone away. Say a prayer please.....
Have a good Thursday!

Another day

We have friends coming today for a play date/ lunch date. Miller and I are looking forward to it.
I'm making a Paula Deen recipe. And its so good. We made cookies last night for them.
Today is a big day in history. I'm going to make sure the kids sit and watch it tonight. Esp Madison as she will remember it always.

We got a dusting of snow early this morning. It is so pretty.
I have a lot going on tomorrow. I go to the salon for my nails and hair. Lunch with a friend. And running around. Miller will be at momma's. My parents are gearing up for their annual trip to Florida. They leave the first week of February. After we get back from our trip to the mountains. They wont be gone as long this time and for this I'm thankful. It's hard when both sets of parents are gone. Scott's parents are in Florida too.

So today we will enjoy good friends, and rest. Looking forward to it. I wont be back until Thursday. We will be gone tomorrow. Enjoy your day wherever you may be.

Friday's at Suzanne's

Suzanne hosts this each week and lately I have had some favorite things I wanted to share with you all.

1. I had a massage on Monday. The works actually. Extra time on my feet, the white robe with a great cup of coffee, it was magical!

2. Lunch with my dear friend Sarah. We eat at this Chinese place and love it so much. We dont even need menus as we always know what we want. The same thing every time. The conversation is priceless and our friendship is too.

3. My Breakfast cream Cheese bake. I made it this week. Yummy! (If you want the recipe let me know and I will send it to you)

4. I love staying home with Miller. Esp when it's an incredibly cold day like today. And he and I snuggled on the couch with coffee and milk...while watching The Backyardigans. I so enjoy these mornings with him.

5. Dinner and a movie with dear friends. We did this last Saturday night. So nice. We saw Benjamin was nice to watch Brad Pitt.....

I'm always thankful and grateful for so many things in my life....but these were a few of my favorites this past week. I hope each of you have a blessed weekend. I will see you on Monday!

It's cold here.

It is so cold here today. 8 was the temp this morning. WOW! It feels like -4. COLD!

I had a good day yesterday. Thank you for all your concerns. I'm really okay with what happened in my life. It's complicated. God puts people in your life to not only get close to them but to learn from the situation as well. And learn I did. More about myself than anything. Which is so important. I have grown closer in my walk with God.

Yesterday I did a little shopping. Had lunch with a good friend. Had a good conversation with a friend. And spent time with myself. It was a good day.

Today we are cleaning the house. It is in bad shape. We are going to finish our pine cones and feed our sweet little birds out back. And rest. The sun is shining and the day is new.

Miller started potty training yesterday and has done a good job. We told him we would not buy anymore diapers..they were gone. We have some new underwear and a few training pants for night time, that is it. So far he hasn't done bad. I will keep you posted though. Fingers crossed.
He still cant beat his cough. We have changed out medicine again. Please say a prayer he gets well....NOTE>> He just pooped in his underwear....aghhhh!

Tomorrow we go to meet his new pre school teachers. He starts in February. I'm pretty excited. We are going to check his class out and see what he thinks.

Scott and I are taking a trip to Gatlinburg Tn the last week of January. We are going snow tubing. We have a chalet rented. No kids. Can you believe it? We are looking forward to some time alone.

I hope you all have a great day. Enjoy winter...or try to at least.

"A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."
Walter Winchell

What a true true statement. Recently I have been tested. It has been very hard. I have been judged, removed, and hurt.
Somehow God keeps picking me back up and reminding me I'm one of his. And others dont matter. Somehow God keeps coming to my rescue. To remind me there is life after this.
And I believe him.

Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be men of courage, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

Jusst some chit chat

Good Morning. It is so cold here today. We are going to the dentist. Miller's very first visit. I hope it goes well. We are having lunch with Scott's parents. And running an errand or two.
I'm inspired by my friend Sandy to make dinner for a friend tonight. She works really hard and has long hours. I called her yesterday and she is running by to grab dinner and take it home. I feel led this year to be a better Christian and friend.
I had a long talk with a friend this weekend. A talk that healed broken hearts and feelings. It feels really good to do that. It takes guts to go do that. She did. When she left I felt good. And everyday we will pray for strength in our friendship and pray for each other.

Things around here have been slow. I'm out of my cleaning routine. I had an appointment yesterday and we were gone and same for today. So I'm trying to clean as I go. That is kind of hard to do. I'm not really sure what the weather is doing outside. I should look though.

Tomorrow will be shopping. Miller will be at mom's. So I will get to run some errands solo. Lunch with a dear friend. And our bible study starts back. I'm excited about this.

I dont really have alot to say....after lunch I plan on coming home and while Miller naps catching up on laundry and mopping the kitchen floor...with peppermint in mop water...yum.
I hope you all have a great day.

Another Year!

Happy New Year all. We had a nice time last night with friends. Great food and games and laughing and talking. Great memories to add to my life. This past year year has been a long one....2008 brought joy, sadness and truth to my life. I saw great moments and watched sad ones too. When I reflect back on this year I know in my heart God was beside me. Holding me up in bad times and laughing with me in the good ones. I look forward to this new year of 2009. I look forward to the new friendships I make, the old ones I hold dear and time well spent. One thing I learned this past year was to take it one day at a time. To not dwell on something I cannot change and hope for the best. Pray. And move on.
I started to think of my new years resolution's. I normally don't make any just try to do better with exercise and eat better. This year I have a few. Of course I will be walking the treadmill more...but these are my resolutions.

1. To live in the moment. I always plan things and want everything to be perfect. When nothing is perfect. Only God. Some things have to be planned I know. But teaching myself to relax and live in the moment will help me to have more fun with each day and enjoy it.

2. I already started this one...but need to keep myself accountable. Reading the bible and devotions. And to pray daily. With everything that goes on in our daily routines it gets a little crazy around here. So I plan to take some time each day just for me and God.

3. Date my husband. At least once a month. We have started going out again. By ourselves. No children no friends. And it is fun.

These resolutions are for me. And I'm looking forward to this new year of 2009. How many times will I write 2008 on my checks I wonder? It doesn't matter. It's a New Year and as my papaw dub would say...we made it.

Enjoy the day friends......we are having Salmon Patties, Turnip Greens, Black Eyed Peas, Spoon Bread, and Scalloped Potatoes and for dessert I was going to make a Ooey Gooey Butter Cake....but we have so many sweets in the house...I will save it for another cold day.

Happy New Years!!!
