Winter Storm 2009 through my eyes.

So this is what it looked like Tuesday morning when Scott awoke me to say get a shower...we will not have power for long.....he was right. This was ice and sleet and freezing rain....

This is what it looked like on Wednesday after the rest of it came in.

My poor poor tree....it's odd how it is all so beautiful the next day but yet so dangerous to be around.

We couldn't get mamie's car in the driveway due to the down branches.

again....the down frozen limbs on my garage and driveway.

Clean up day finally.....it was a huge mess.

just some of the debris

A helper. Miller really enjoyed raking the leaves.
Our yard wont be the same....but our trees lived and now we need Mother Nature to love on them. We are very blessed.

(We didnt have power at our home for 8 days...my home was down to 47 degrees....but it survived..we had no damage..we saved our food...just a big mess to clean up.)

Great pictures. I am so glad that is over for us, but remember, there are still thousands without power. I can only imagine what they are going through. 10 days was horrible.

I looked at your picture of the tree in your yard and it reminded me of how God talks about the palm tree in the bible. The wind may bend it all the way over, but once the wind stops the tree stands tall & true again. Some of the weaker branches came off, but look at how tall your tree is once again. Just like life...

Oh, your poor tree! I love what Krisin said. You'll find strength in watching it grow again and stay strong. You guys were on the national news again last night. Still so much to be done to get everyone up to speed. I'm glad your house survived.
Wow! As bad as it was, and I know it was, I've lived through extended power outages and ice storms and hurricanes too, I'm just so glad it all turned out ok. No one was hurt, your house wasn't damaged, and you had someplace warm and dry. I'm so glad you guys were on the blessed end of this thing, Jen.

Take care!

I know this was a terrible ordeal, Jen, but I'm really glad you had no permanent damage. Your trees will recover. I imagine you've had about enough winter, huh. :-)
Oh no fun! I've been through those before and our yard looked like that! I hope your swing is ok, I saw it in the first picture....that would be nice to have in a tree! The trees and all will come back, might take some time but it will be neat in the spring when things start blooming and budding.

I cant believe you didnt have to cut the tree down. It looked like a total loss. Wow...Mother Nature is a mean ole hag sometimes, lol. I'm glad everything is OK now.

Oh my goodness! 8 days is an extrememly long time to be without power when the weather is normal, but I can't even imagine going for that long when its freezing outside! Glad you guys (and your house) are ok!!
