How did you meet your mate......

Barb over @ A Chelsea Morning is hosting a "How I met my Mate"...I thought this would be loads of fun...so please participate and leave yours with her.....

13 years ago......I went with about 15 friends to Daytona Beach, Florida..yes it was Spring Break..WHOOOOOOO! We ran into the snowstorm of 93...and normally for a 15 hour drive turned into a 28 hour drive. It was cold.....and crazy. When we finally arrived...we partied...you know the party's that you went to as a teen....we drank and danced and stayed up all night and drank some more. Anyway,,,,,this is a family blog I know. I was dating someone from home and it really wasn't working out. Scott....was introduced to me and followed me around all week...everytime I was anywhere..there he was like a puppy dog. I found it amusing at first not looking for anything...trying to deal with the mess back home. We had some good talks and a couple of drinks...laid on the beach together but that was it!!!!
I even went home a day early. Scott was down on Spring Break too with another group. See we are from the same town he is 4 years older....went to rival schools and even knew of one another just never got around to meeting....when we got home he found my phone # and called 2-3 times a day. I told him I needed to deal with some things before dating. And I did....but it took about 2 months......Scott never gave up once a week he would call just to see how things were going. I finally got over my "mess" and he asked me out. We went to dinner and a movie. It was fun.....but I didn't want anything serious. So I distanced myself. A Friend of mine H said she had seen Scott at a local club dancing with my friends and hitting on one of them......well, it made me mad it mad me furious...but most of all it made me jealous.....you see.....she lied...she wanted to see if I really liked him....and I did. So the next day I called him.....and well...its not over yet........we got close and he without talking to me about it in listed into the military. USAF. And tried to break up with me. That just about killed me. I wouldn't give up. He went off to basic and I stayed as close to his family as my own. Went with them to graduation and visited as often as I could. 2 months later Scott came home for Christmas.....he proposed to me......we dated 6 months......were married in 2 months and moved to Florida....it all happened so fast....but I don't regret a thing. 13 years later......I would do it again, and again, and again, he is my morning, noon and night. He is what makes me tick...he is the world to me. People ask all the time how do we make it work....honesty, laughter, and love. And most of all respect. Scott shows me everyday how much life means to us...and that what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. I believe in this and I believe in him.
So this is my story and I'm sticking to it.

You should stick to it - it's a great story. I can't believe you went to Daytona on spring break. That's kind of a wild and crazy place right about then, isn't it?

By the way, when you linked at my site you linked your 9/11 post instead of this one. You might want to run back over and link this story. People will get a kick out of reading this. Especially the part about him following you around like a puppy dog. :-)

What a great way to meet. Iove spring break and I have been to Daytona beach quite a lot. That is so sweet how he followed you around. You sound like you make a great couple. I think it's sweet that you got jealous and realized how much you liked Scott. Your story made me smile.

It's funny how it took you two going to FL to meet and spend time together. No wonder FL holds a special place in your heart. Great story on how you both took turns not giving up.
