Friday Nights, Highschool Football & My Family

Well, tonight we went to our local highschool football game. You have to understand something about football in Paducah......it ROCKS.....highschool football is great. Now, Madison goes to the same school I went to my whole life. I went to all the football games in highschool never missed one...I dated a football player....I was Football Hoemcoming Queen 91'.....and have always loved going to the hometown games. The smell of popcorn when you walk through the gates....all the people you see...it's like a small town reunion...Scott went to a rival school but loves my school...tonight was Miller's first football game....well Scott couldnt wait. His BOY going to a football game. We had a friend ask if Miller was going to play...Scott says....Yeh.....are you crazy...this is our future quarterback.......Madison is a cheerleader for the 4th grade so she wore her uniform to school today and loves everything about cheering....she eats, breathes and talks cheerleading. Kick off is so exciting our family doesnt speak we just watch the first kick......its so intense.....then we start to yell...we yell for about 2 hours....we eat hot dogs, popcorn, candy, sodas...ect.
We enjoy seeing all our friends....and catching up.
Friday Nights, Highschool Football, and my family.....what a great combination. There is nothing better.

You make me miss high school!!!!!! We no longer live in the same town our h/s was in, but I think in a few weeks, we are going to have to take our children the a h/s football game. I'll just take them to the h/s they will be attending!!! :) I have such fond memories of my DH playing football in highschool and then going out after the game and celebrating... whether we won or lost, that group (team/cheerleaders/and a few friends) was close and we still went to Pizza Hut!!! :)

Sounds like y'all had fun!!!

Sounds like a fun time. I love HS football. Although my son doesn't play football (he broke his leg at 9 playing pee wee football), we do so enjoy watching those hometown games. He is going to play baseball though, now that is my favorite sport. This is have I have waited for his whole life, watching him play HS baseball. I am already excited and the season is months and months away!
So glad you had a great time. Hope you have a great weekend!
Jen, That sounds like alot of fun! What a great way for the family to spend a little time together :)

Sounds like fun!! Our school district has 3 high schools and another in the works, so we aren't even sure at this point where our kids will go to high school. I did love going to games though at my high school...great memories!!

This is something I would love. I was also a cheerleader and loved high school football. My son played for Aiea eagles her in Hawaii. My kids went last night to Radford high's game. They won. They usually win most of their games here in Hawaii. There are not too many big schools, but enought ot have Friday night football. Now me, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I even have an official jersey with my last name on the back. My parents got me this as a gift. I love, love, love to watch football. I think half the reason my husband married me was because I was a girl who lived and breathed football. Do you guys have a pro team you like. My husband is a Steelers fan so I root for them and in exchange force him to root for the team he always hated "The Cowboys." In fact I'm going to put my 3 year olds Cowboys shirt on right now to get ready for their game today. This drives the hubby nuts. I also have Cowboy border in my room, I may have to post about this later.
PS I haven't found the creme brulee yet, but am going to try Safeway today. Wish me luck!
PSS I put Steelers border in my hubbys bathroom and I tell him you pee with the Steelers but sleep with the Cowboys.

That sounds just like us! We went to the scrimmage last night. The first game is next week, and next Thursday my oldest son will play in his first Jr. High game! We are excited to say the least. I am looking forward also to the new show Friday Night Lights. I hope it is good.

Jen this reminds me of when I was growing up. I dont live in the town where I went to school but my best friend is still there. She keeps me posted on things. You are blessed to be raisning your children where you grew up. There is something about that that is just neat. I wouldn't move back home for nothing because I am in love with where I am now but I do miss so many things. Good post Jen!! How's Miller doing?

LOL! Your post sounds like something right out of an American movie! Football isn't that big here in Canada, nor is cheerleading, so it's not a phenomenon that I can relate to. Sounds like a fun night out though!
It's amazing how many ways our neighbouring countries are the same, yet so different at the same time! :)

Yep. Love all of it. Every bit. Nothing like Friday night football in the South, is there? :-)
