Friends
A couple of weeks ago me and my gal pals had a little weekend retreat to re focus and appreciate each other. It was wonderful....I wanted to write down and tell you all what we read that weekend...
Here is what we know about girlfriends.....
Girlfriends bring casseroles and scrub your bathroom when you are sick.
Girlfriends keep your children and keep your secrets.
Girlfriends give advice when you ask for it. Sometimes you take it: and sometimes you dont.
Girlfriends dont always tell you that you're right but they are usually honest with you.
Girlfriends still love you even when they dont agree with your choices.
Girlfriends might send you a birthday card but they might not....it doesn't matter either way.
Girlfriends laugh with you and you dont need canned jokes to start the laughter
Girlfriends pull you out of jams.
Girlfriends dont keep a calender that lets them know who hosted the other last.
Girlfriends are there for you in an instant and truly when the hard times come.
Girlfriends listen when you lose a job or a husband.
Girlfriends listen when children break your heart.
Girlfriends listen when your parents minds and bodies fail.
I ended this list with this.....
The truth is friendships between women dont just happen. Friends may seem to come in our lives by accident, but thats never the case. True friends are a gift from God. Our heavenly Father's desire is for us to have meaningful and soul nurturing friendships with other women because he knows that woman support encourage, bless and serve one another in ways no one else can....
We left that weekend with a new respect for one another....we love each other and sometimes friendships get beat down or forgotten or walked over or even ignored...and I believe you both have to work on it for it to happen. We know if any of us needed each other in the middle of the night we would be there......we would. We already have been.
If you have a strong friendship I encourage you to do a retreat once a year to re focus on each other.....if you dont have your friends.....life would be more difficult....and no one really likes difficult.
