Gifts in a Jar
M&MT Cookie Mix
Make one jar or a dozen for gift-giving!
2 c all-purpose flour mixed with
1/2 tsp baking soda,
and 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 C M&MT chocolate candies
1 1/4 C sugar
Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide-mouth canning jar.
Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next ingredient.
Decorate jar for gift giving and attach gift card with instructions. For each jar, cut a 7-inch circle of fabric. Top each jar with fabric circle, and tie with ribbon.
For 12 jars, you'll need this amount of ingredients.
24 C all-purpose flour mixed
with 6 tsp baking soda
and 6 tsp baking powder
15 C M&MT chocolate candies
15 C sugar
For even mixing, but for even rising you might choose to line up your 12 jars and add the flour, baking soda and baking powder to each jar and give it a stir in the jar with a narrow whisk.
Chocolate Pecan Shortbread Mix in a Jar recipe
Layer the following in a quart-size jar:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1 cup chocolate chips
Attach the following instructions on a gift tag:
Chocolate Pecan Shortbread
Cream 2 sticks of softened butter until light and fluffy; blend in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add contents of jar and mix well; dough will be stiff. Press dough into 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 18 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely.
Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.

You know I'm actually making some for the kids too??? I thought it would be fun to add a cocoa mix with their own name and label and a cookie or fudge mix for each.
