Gifts in a Jar

Today I thought I would post on my gifts in a jar...some of you have asked for recipes so here goes...

M&MT Cookie Mix

Make one jar or a dozen for gift-giving!

2 c all-purpose flour mixed with
1/2 tsp baking soda,
and 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 1/4 C M&MT chocolate candies
1 1/4 C sugar

Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 quart wide-mouth canning jar.

Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next ingredient.

Decorate jar for gift giving and attach gift card with instructions. For each jar, cut a 7-inch circle of fabric. Top each jar with fabric circle, and tie with ribbon.

For 12 jars, you'll need this amount of ingredients.

24 C all-purpose flour mixed
with 6 tsp baking soda
and 6 tsp baking powder

15 C M&MT chocolate candies
15 C sugar

For even mixing, but for even rising you might choose to line up your 12 jars and add the flour, baking soda and baking powder to each jar and give it a stir in the jar with a narrow whisk.

Chocolate Pecan Shortbread Mix in a Jar recipe

Layer the following in a quart-size jar:

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1 cup chocolate chips

Attach the following instructions on a gift tag:

Chocolate Pecan Shortbread

Cream 2 sticks of softened butter until light and fluffy; blend in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Add contents of jar and mix well; dough will be stiff. Press dough into 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 18 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool completely.

Cut into bars. Store in tightly covered container.

These are very easy to make and didn't take a long time....I hope you enjoy them.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Love it, I think I may just add these recipes to my other Jar gifts already made :)

You know I'm actually making some for the kids too??? I thought it would be fun to add a cocoa mix with their own name and label and a cookie or fudge mix for each.

You've been having some good ideas. I have enjoyed making jar gifts a few times before and I like to get them as well.
I am on my 2nd post of frugal Christmas ideas and will be posting more until Christmas is over.

I've never made jar mixes before, but I love the idea. I'm going to print off the recipes and tuck them away for next year - this year I am doing caramel popcorn and granola for my neighbors.
I love that you included the recipe for making 12 jars worth - that's awesome!

The Chocolate Pecan Shortbread sounds so good.. like SO, SO good!

Ooo,the M&M ones are catching my eye! Is there instructions that go along with those one too? Or did I somehow miss it?
