A Sad Day

What a sad sad day it is in Lancaster, PA........My mother has visited this community and just loved it. We have an Amish community not far from here that Madison and I love to go to and purchase their foods. They are devastated this morning their hearts are broken. We all need to say a prayer for the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and grandparents of these families. We have no idea what they are going through.

Almost 9 years ago.......this November...we had one of the first school shootings in this area. It happened at my husbands old high school. 3 girls were killed while praying in a prayer circle. I will never forget that morning. I was on my way to work and had just passed an ambulance thinking it was a car accident. They came on the radio with breaking news...about a school shooting....I was less than 5 minutes away from this school. My heart broke for the parents and I began to pray.
The shooting rocked our community....we had NBC,CBS,ABC,FOX,and CNN out here. It was a mad house for awhile...we just listened to the radio all day..hoping we didn't know any of the deceased. This morning it brought back alot of sad memories of that day......
I hope as all of you go about your morning, afternoon, and evening you can stop and say a prayer for these families.....it's a sad day for these precious families.
God Bless us all....

I'll never forget the Heath shootings. We were living in VA and I was home on lunch. I was flipping through the channels and saw something about Paducah. I flipped back and there it was. Words just couldn't describe how it felt. You just don't realize how easy it can happen until it happens in your town. God be with those families in Pennsylvania.

It's just so sad, and I never would have thought it would happen in a community like that, then again I never thought it would happen in schools either. What is this world coming to?

My heart and prayers are with the community and the families.

You're so right, Jen. It brings back memories of Columbine for me. My best friend's two sons went to high school there when that happened and it was terrifying until we knew they were OK. I remember be completely stunned that such a thing could happen. And the news last night was equally as stunning.

It's hard to imagine how a mind becomes so sick it can do this. My heart breaks for the families of these little girls. We need to pray for them and for the family of the man who did this horrible thing.
It is a sad day... :(
We have friends in Lancaster, PA. It is such a quiet and peaceful place. Hard to believe something like this could happen there. I guess nobody is immune, are they?

PS: Not to be shallow during this serious post, but I love what you have done to your blog! It looks fantastic!

I live near Amish and Mennonite communities here in upstate NY. I was out driving near the communities today...and I was particularly touched. This is so sad. My heart and prayers go out to them.

Thanks for posting about this. It's sad when anyone dies unexpectedly but there's something about the life of a child being unfairly ripped away. My heart and prayers go out to these people.
I know there has been several shootings lately, but this one really hurt my heart extra today... definitely prayers going out all over.

P.S. I read your previous post about the Big News- that is so awesome!!!

This is horrible. I lived about 4 hours from Lancaster growing up and visited it several times. They are such nice quiet people. I can't believe anyone would want to hurt them.

You must of been scared when the school shooting occured at hubby's old school. Isn't this every parents nightmare? My mom was saying how we send our kids to school thinking it's safe and this is what can happen. It is just one of the worst things I can think of. My heart aches for these people. What a nice post you wrote.

This was such a sad thing that it's hard for me to even think about it. When I start to imagine what the mothers must be going through, I start to cry.

That is such a sad tragic event that unfolded. I could not believe all the innocent lives that were lost. I read a biography a few years ago about an Amish girl that had left the community. They are a beautiful people deeply rooted in their faith.

It is very sad when young children are targets for some strange reason. Schools are a place of learning not for fearing. I live where Laurie Dann entered the grammar school in 1988. It is something I will remember . I pray for these families in Penn and where the other shootings have been recently.
