To Vaccinate or Not

Are you get the H1N1 vaccination? That is the question I'm being asked everyday. Scott and I have talked a little about it...but we really dont know anything about it....so...friends, and lurkers..are you getting or giving it to your children? Yes or No and why?

I had my doubts, Jen, because there have been so many times the government has come back at us and said, "Oops. Our bad." But Cameron's pediatrician called Krissy and said they had the vaccine and she needed to get him in right away. As in TODAY. Cameron, as you know, is only 4 and was diagnosed as juvenile diabetic when he was only 22 months old. Apparently, this flu could kill him, so yes, he got the vaccine last Friday. I'm happy to report, absolutely no adverse reaction. The shot itself didn't even phase him, but then Cameron is very used to shots.

I say do it. If one of your children were to get H1N1 and hadn't been vaccinated, I think you'd be dealing with some extremely sick children.

My 18 yr old daughter is getting hers at school after Thanksgiving. There are too many of her age getting it. I say, why not get it. I will get it also if/when it is available at my dr's office. My stepdaughter however does not believe in it for her infant and my 4 yr old grandaughter. I know that is her decision but I don't like it.

NO No No....I am against vaccines in general. If I had it to do over again my children would not get any...they are full of bad things...God did give us vaccines..that is a man made thing..drug companies way to get rich...Jenny as you know Grandma Howle never did any of that..she did not believe in the medical system and she lived to be a ripe old age and live at home alone all her life. Of course you have to take care of yourself...eat right exercise....etc. Check out www.naturalnews.com and other alternative medicine sights.

I am choosing not to vaccinate. It's such a personal decision and I feel like you have to feel comfortable with the decision either way. I don't believe it's a black or white decision. There are pros and cons either way. Go with your gut feeling! Blessings to you and your family!

Have you ever heard of shelf milk? Is so, can you use it in a baking recipe?

Here is what I know about the H1N1. You can only get it if you are under aged 25, or if you are pregnant, or if you have a complication and that requires a note from your doctor.

My doctor tells me that this is because the H1N1 is actually not a new strain, it is one that was around many, many years ago and those of us older than 25 have likely been affected and immuned already. Most of us anyway.

I also know that if the H1N1 influenza had been discovered one month earlier it would have been included in the normal, yearly flu vaccine that I have been getting for years.

So none of this discussion about whether or not it is safe would be happening. It would just be a part of that yearly vaccine. But it was not discovered in time so that is why everyone is wondering about its safety.

I would get it in a heartbeat if they would let me, but I am 52 and not considered a risk. I did get the regular flu shot though. I always do.
