Relaxed & Underpaid?

Some days you just gotta relax......get away.....enjoy your girl talk...have a drink or two....eat things you don't normally eat......and take it all in. (snickers, twix bars, dips and chips, pizza, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella cheese sticks, cookie cake, caramel popcorn)

Some days you just gotta take time for yourself and for girlfriends......

All my girlfriends or rather most of my girlfriends work. I'm the only stay at home mom. They respect my choice though. My girlfriends are accountants, insurance agents, hairdressers, teachers, Engineers, Physical therapists, and me. They or most of them have degrees.....and the beauty is we can help each other out in certain areas in life.....but as I laid on my raft today in the pool with my girlfriends at our slumber party and looked into the beautiful blue sky on this 100 acre farm in the middle of no where......I thought to myself...what am I to them? I stay home and clean diapers, wash clothes, cook dinner, run my kids everywhere......what can they possibly get from me? As they joked and talked I listened to one say well.....we have K who is an accountant...J is an insurance agent....K is a teacher and J is one too.....D is a hairdresser...E works for an University......S is an Engineer....and K is a physical therapist....we can all give each other advice on different topics....as they got to me.....they paused....K speaks up and says Jen is a professional counselor..always there to listen and solve our problems....the mother hen. I thought for a moment...hmmmmm....the mother hen. See I'm the oldest of them....I guess they look to me for advice..maybe I have been there and done it or maybe they seek my opinion on what I would do. I'm not really sure. But I look at these women and I know each one has a great quality and that is why I'am their friend.

I guess in life you can pick and choose your friends.....my close ones work. And I do not. And they respect me. And I respect them. Too bad I don't get paid for professional counseling. Maybe I should start charging by the hour.

I think being a mom is the most important job in the world! Don't sell yourself short because you don't get paid. I think our jobs are imeasurable as far as trying to put a dollar amount on what we do...there's not enough money out there!!!

It sounds like you had a great time, and that you have a great network of close friends. You're very blessed! :)

sounds like you were second guessing your value...
don't do that because you are molding your children to be mature responsible adults and there is no value to put on that
if the truth be known all your friends have a little secret side that would like to be in your shoes !!
sounds like you had a great time though

I love that you have a close group of friends who respect and admire each other. That is so important. Even though you have chosen different paths, the support is still there.
And hey....as a mom, you already are some of those things....hair stylist, accountant, teacher, etc. Right? ;-)

Sounds like you had a good time! It's so neat to spend time with friends.....I know you're glad that you stay home with your kids, it's the hardest job in the world but so worth it.
