For Today...September 29th

Outside my Window...the sun is in the distance slowly rising. The air is crisp and the new day begins.

I am thinking... of all the lists I have made for this so busy week before my much needed vacation to the ocean begins.

From the learning rooms... today we are going to watch the Bee Movie and talk about the letter B.....and color with markers.

I am thankful for...technology and the internet. Crazy I know...but it helps me to plan so many things and keep connected with people.

From the kitchen... Breakfast is Pop Tarts and Milk....Lunch will be grilled cheese and grapes...dinner is going to be grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes and veggie casserole...and rolls.

I am wearing...my blue robe

I am reading... nothing...as I'm getting magazines together I haven't read just yet...Martha, People, Parenting (2 of them ) and I will buy another one for the road trip.

I am hoping...for a smooth day as I will run everyday this week.

I am creating... different things...a back pack for each child for the ride ...the first aid kit in the car needs changing out...the dog needs his bags packed and I need to get suit cases organized and ready.

I am hearing...the birds chirp outside my window.

Around the house... cleaning all the glass today...cleaning bathrooms, laundry to stay up on...floors got done yesterday.

One of my favorite things... walking the beach.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... when I write my plans for the week I'm always looking at my calender..so here goes...Madison has her last babysitting class today...5 tests...yes you read it right...2 games to cheer at and gymnastics class...Miller has a music class and an ENT appointment...I have MOPS on Thursday, cooking for a friend who is having surgery...a nail appointment and a bikini wax..yes you read right again....and lunch with a friend, and my weekly bible study...along with getting things together for our vacation to the ocean...it will be a long, and hard week...

My Picture thought this week is......the road trip to the beach and all the beautiful colors along the way

Friday chit chat

It's Friday. Something in that sentence makes me smile. This weekend is our annual BBQ on the River....several and I mean several of our locals get together and have a BBQ cook off and we have judges and there is a winner.....and it's a whole weekend of fun. I'm going down to meet friends for lunch today. And tomorrow we are taking the kids with us. I'm ready for some BBQ and Hot fudge Cake.....yes you heard me....HOT FUDGE CAKE....yummy!

It's been wild around here...as you all know. Miller has a music class this morning and tonight is another home football game. I'm making lists on what to do for our trip next week. I'm ready to head down to the ocean for a week. Long over due actually.

I have been trying to catch up on all my shows this week but seem to fall behind....I'm not up on dancing with the stars just yet....and have more to watch and tivo.

It's a cool morning as it has been all week. I cant seem to find any pumpkin spice creamer anywhere..so french vanilla it is. I guess maybe they will come out with the fall flavors soon.
Well...I'm off to get ready. We have a busy day ahead of us. Have a great weekend everyone....enjoy the weather.

Just talkin

I didn't post yesterday as I ran all day long. Miller had a hair appointment early then a music class to make up. We then proceeded to run a few short errands and headed to the pumpkin patch....not the hayride stay all morning day...just the run in and buy pumpkins, hay and stalks morning. Miller did alright for the most part. He enjoyed pulling the wagon around the place and putting 5o million things on it. We finally got out of there by lunch and ate at home. The pumpkin patch is just down the road from our house. My afternoon was just as crazy with Madison coming home and taking her and 2 others to gymnastics....wasting an hour waiting on them...Miller and I decided to go to the car wash....he watched his Leap Frog movie while I vacuumed the car and sweat.
Then I drove all three girl to cheer practice came home and finished cooking had a glass of Chardonnay and past out.....after cleaning the kitchen, separating Cookie Dough orders and bath time...and checking homework.
Scott didnt get home until 10pm. I was exhausted.

So today is Wednesday. My day. I'm running a few errands. We have some gifts to pick up. Miller is going to my mom's house. Delivering cookie dough. Getting my jeep serviced and the tail light fixed on it. Running to the library. And having lunch with an old friend. We have church tonight and my new bible study starts...Mom to Mom....I'm really excited about this one.

We are having Leftovers tonight. Scott didnt eat so he can have last nights meal and Madison will eat at church...so me and Miller will eat leftovers.

The weekend will be a crazy one. We will be going all day Saturday. Alot of you asked how I do it....I just do. I dont have much of a choice. My day starts at 5am and ends sometimes at 11pm.....we go all the time...but I live on it.

Thank you for prayers on Miller. He is feeling much better. He has been on a decongestant and steroid pack so things are looking up...no more croup. As for me....I take it one day at a time. Baby steps....I think of my aunt constantly and realize it will take TIME to move on and accept this. But boy do I miss her laugh.

I hope you all have a fantastic day......hug your loved one.

New shows this week start up such as Lipstick Jungle, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, My Name is Earl, The Office, Brothers and Sisters, The Amazing Race, and Desperate Housewives....yes I'm a TV Junkie.

Friday's

It's another day. Friday. I got up this morning and had my coffee....no special creamer. I go to the grocery today so I will have to pick a fall one out. I love special creamers. It's going to be an easy weekend for me. Thank you Lord. Scott is working 7 days straight 13 hour days....yes we barely see him. With all the storms he needs to get phones back in working order.
So today...Miller has a music class to go to. And another to re schedule and make up. We are headed to the grocery too...and that alone takes 2 hours....and grab some lunch out. And during nap time this week I have been sitting on my front porch in my rocking chair reading devotions and praying alot. It has been nice.
We had MOPS yesterday and did a take home meal....which was really nice to just pop into the oven last night and hit bake.
This weekend.....Madison has church tonight. So me and Miller are going to hang out, and make Stromboli for dinner. Maybe go for a walk. Saturday Madison has a cheer clinic to go to for a half a day. So Miller and I may go visit with my mom. She is doing better. Baby steps. It's been a long week. Saturday night I'm declaring it movie night....so me and the kids are getting big blankets and pillows and popcorn and crashing in the family room with some good ole movies. Sunday is church and I have the nursery that morning which is fine. Sunday evening I'm going with my girlfriends to see The Women and to Pasta House for some much needed girl time...and a glass of wine.
I hope you all have a good day and weekend. I'll check in with you later.

Life goes on.

It's a nice crisp morning here. The air is cool. It's quiet outside. i had coffee on the porch listening to the neighborhood wake up. I had my winter robe on to keep me warm. I was thinking of yesterday and being with our family. I have such a loving family. We really are there for one another. As I drank my coffee.....I prayed to the Lord to take care of us...protect us and get us through this death...I know he will. My faith is strong.

Today is a new day. Life does go on. When you are in a state of devastation....life keeps on going all around you. It's hard to imagine...but it does. So...I need to get caught back up on my life.

For today..................

I need to get my hair done this morning...a treat for me.

Run some errands and cook a meal for a friend who has lost a loved one.

Strip sheets and dust the bedroom.

Maybe grab a much needed nap.

Go to the post office

Run to Hobby Lobby.

The days are feeling much more like fall everyday. My dear friends sent me two beautiful mums to the funeral home and they are on my porch. It's time to start getting my fall stuff out.
Have a good day everyone!

Mondays at Peggy's

For Today...September 15th

Outside my Window...A mess. We had tropical storm winds yesterday morning. Outside my window are down tree limbs, my flowers in hanging baskets split in 3's, debris and trash, Miller's tree house in 3 pieces, lawn furniture everywhere and tree's uprooted.....a true mess.

I am thinking...We have alot to clean up. And alot going on with the funeral too. We lost power yesterday for 10 hours so I couldn't get alot of things done.

From the learning rooms...Miller needs to make up a music class and go to another one this week....we are working on the letter C.

I am thankful for... electricity. Not having it yesterday reminded me of this. I'm thankful for my family also in the death of my aunt on Friday...family comes together in good and bad.

From the kitchen...the visitation is tonight. So I don't plan on cooking. We will just eat something fast. My menu will be little this week.

I am wearing...pajama pants and a white tank.

I am reading...nothing...no time this week.

I am hoping...that the next couple of days will go by easy. I need peace and God's hands to hold me up. Funeral Homes are not easy...esp when its family.

I am creating...a list of things for tomorrow and tonight.

I am hearing... the washer and dryer starting up for the day

Around the house...cleaning up outside this morning. Picking up limbs and such. Doing some laundry..ironing our clothes for the funeral....not a whole lot.

One of my favorite things...peanut butter and chocolate

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...my aunts funeral, 3 tests for Madison, gymnastics and only 2 games to cheer at....a music class, getting my hair done, a movie and dinner with girlfriends at the end of the week...thank God for them

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...some of the storm from our area...it was wild. We had gusts clocked up to 70mph...crazy. We were in church...so we didn't see alot of it....God protected us.

I hope you all have a great week...please keep my family in prayer and thoughts...for more daybooks please stop by Peggy's.....it's getting bigger and bigger each week....The Simple Woman.

Our first dance.

Our first dance is tonight. It's not that big of a deal for Madison. But boy it is for me and her daddy. I have always wondered what today would be like. We have a new outfit. We are taking time on her hair this afternoon. The ticket is purchased. The camera is ready. And I'm nervous.

Scott hasnt said alot. There is no date....just a fun dance where the girls will goof off I'm sure. But just another milestone of my dear little girl who is growing up before my very own eyes.

I knew this day would come and I havent been quite right all day. Say a prayer the night is magical for her and she has a great time.

I remember my first dance....and it was magical. Fun, exciting and memorable rolled up inot one. I know dances will come and go....but something about that first one.......

I leave you with this.....enjoy your day friends.

TGIF!!!!!

Updated....my aunt Glenda who was only 47 years old passed away early this morning. She had diabetes. Please keep my family in your prayers. She has a daughter Ashley who is her 20's.

Good Morning everyone! Well it's another nice day. The sun is shining...not sure for how long..but it is shining. I have showered and fed Madison gotten her up and going as school pictures are today. Miller has his music class this morning...pray for me....we have been twice and he continuously wont listen to me. He wants to play the darn keyboards and they get to play these but for only a couple of minutes and they move on...well he doesn't want to move on.....so give me some strength and courage today to walk back in there and wrestle with him.
Yesterday I took him to see what we call Touch A Truck.....the area businesses bring their BIG trucks to the park and close areas off so little kids can get up in them and get pictures made with them...we did the Post Office Truck, Dump Trucks, Concrete Trucks, Military Vehicles, a Helicopter, an Ambulance, Firetruck, a semi...you get the idea...pretty cool....Miller enjoyed it but not the lines we had to stand in..that was an obstacle for me.
Tonight is our first home football game....and its Homecoming. We are going. Actually with 20 of our friends and their kids...we are eating dinner and heading over. I always loved Homecoming...you all know I was queen in 1991....so it's always a big deal for me....and Madison.
I guess I have rambled on enough...I hope you all have a great day.

Hurricanes

Hurricane Ike is slowly coming towards our Gulf Coast. Pray for everyone's safety. Some wont leave as others will. These storms are so powerful. Scott and I sat through a Category 3......Hurricane Opal in 1995 in Panama City, Fl. We saw a fence come up out of the back yard and fly across a field.....yet.....an ash tray on a nearby patio never moved. So.....as you can see these are powerful storms that we must not mess with...we should just get out of their way.

Hurricane Isabel

Hurricane Rita

Hurricane Katrina coming up Mississippi

Some things to talk about

Good Morning. It's a cloudy cool morning here. Which is fine with me. I like mornings like this. Miller and I are the only ones still here. Scott and Madison have already left. We were up late last night as Madison cheered at 8:30...so we didn't get home until 10pm. I was tired...she still needed to shower and I had to wash her Cheer uniform as she is cheering again tonight at 8pm. Yes I know it's late and she brought home every school book in her locker last night. Crazy. And we have 3 tests this week. Middle School is much more demanding than Elementary school was.

Today is a new day though...right? I enjoy my schedules...my routines. I enjoy having something to work for or do all the time. Today Miller has a music class and we have one errand to run. Then we are coming home to make frosted brownies and prepare dinner for tonight and then Miller will nap. While he naps.....I will mop the hardwood finally. Laundry is caught up. I need to start going over some lists for Christmas....I know it sounds crazy. But...i need to make some lists and start getting ready so I don't fall behind. Does anyone else do this?

Tonight's dinner is Poppyseed Chicken, green beans, corn and Texas toast...brownies for dessert.
Madison has gymnastics and then studying and then a game to cheer at.....but that is how we live our life...going from one experience to another....we love it.

The new fall shows are coming out which ones are you looking forward to? We are excited about several...The Biggest Loser, The Amazing Race, Survivor, The Office, Brothers and Sisters, Desperate Housewives....you name it and I'm ready.

Have a great Tuesday everyone....enjoy.

I am hoping... that the week calms down and we all have a good one.

I'm going.....to the roller rink today as on Monday's they let our kids bring in their trikes and ride around while mom's hang out...then lunch with friends at the local Burger King. Later tonight.....we have a music class, a babysitting class and a game to cheer at.

I am hearing.....my dog and my mother in laws dog growl at each other...we are dog sitting and they are getting the best of me. My dog is 14 and hers is 1 so you can understand. There is no patience.

Around the house... laundry as usual. Stripping sheets on all beds. I need to mop my hard wood floors and sweep my front porch.

One of my favorite things... strawberry shortcake

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...we have gymnastics, 4 games to cheer at this week, babysitting class, 2 music classes, a nail appointment, Miller has a hair appointment, Homecoming at the local football game is Friday night so we are eating dinner with friends at our favorite Mexican place and heading over to watch, church, and maybe some laying out in the sun.

Friday talk

It's Friday afternoon. What a week we have had. It has just flown by us. Good things though.

Here are a few things happening around here.

1. We had our first MOPS meeting and it was great. We had around 35 moms and 8 that normally come didn't show....so we are doing awesome. The fellowship was great. And I loved my group.

2. Scott was off yesterday so I got to go to Walmart by myself.....which is a treat. 2 hours...yes 2 hours at Walmart...remember I grocery shop for 2 weeks at a time....and only spent $270...not bad.

3. Madison had 2 tests this week which she scored high on both. Thank the Lord. Middle School is harder than I remember.

4. Miller started his first music class this week. Little ones gather together and play music once a week for 30 minutes. He did well. Better than I expected. He really enjoyed the keyboards.

5. Wednesday I had lunch with a dear friend. We ate at a great little restaurant downtown. I had the Grilled Chicken Greek salad....oh my gosh it was so good. I really enjoyed our catching up giggling till we cried conversation. Seeing her always makes me smile.

6. The weather here has cooled down feeling like fall already. It was so nice today. Miller and I ate lunch outside and played. Normally it has been so hot we do our playing outside before 10am.

7. We have a playdate Monday with friends and we are looking forward to this.

I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend. Madison is staying the night with a friend tonight. Scott and I are grilling pork chops. Not sure my sides...maybe a salad. Miller has a birthday party to go to tomorrow...at 2 he is starting to get invites already....but this is a good thing for him. We picked his friends gift out today. It was kind of fun.
Scott works tomorrow....which is fine. We may hang out at home and then do the party. Sunday is church and then we have a friend having a cook out in the late afternoon. I'm making Strawberry lemonade and Potatoe Casserole....I'm hoping you all have a great weekend. I'll talk to you on Monday.

A little of this and that

The Holiday is over. School and work went back to normal this morning. Miller and I are totally off schedule. We spent the entire weekend at the pool. It was nice and relaxing. Miller jumped off the diving board the last day the pool was opened.....in his flotation device (as my friends call it) he was so proud of himself. I made Oreo Truffles this morning. I'm tired though.

Trace Adkins rocked the house...he is so great! We had a nice meal and enjoyed the concert outside on the Ohio River. I'm waiting for Madison to come home. She has gymnastics and a football game to cheer at. Crazy I know.

I'm cooking a roast today. Yum. It smells so good. Corn and peas to go with it and potatoes. Leftover Peach Pie from yesterday for dessert.

It's hot today that sticky kind of hot. Hoping fall comes soon.
Have a good day everyone...tomorrow is my day off....hooray!
