What a crazy week in Paradise

Its been a crazy week for me.....and its only Wednesday I know. My neighbor passed away Sunday night of cancer...he was only 55...very sad. But between.....funeral visitation...cooking a meal and delivering it...gymnastics...meeting at church.....going to Scott's parents.....appointments throughout the day and Madison's homework..I'm a little stressed....and dont get me started on housework...which Scott in so many words thinks I have seemed to neglect. This morning I had to be at his parents house at 9:30....He left for work at 6:30 leaving me in the recliner with a cup of coffee and 9 month old baby...who wanted to play and crawl out of the living room. When Madison woke up at 7am....I then proceeded to beg her for 15 minutes to get out of bed and come eat her breakfast that I cooked with little baby on my hip all 21 pounds of him. At 7:40 she finally got dressed, and screamed at me fot 2 minutes over which ponytail she had to wear today something about matching her shirt not her pants...I dont know and dont really care. Then I fixed her hair while baby stood at my knees crying wanting me to pick him up. I got in the shower at 7:50 took a 5 minute shower as Madison had to catch the bus at 8:05......and try to get ready with baby ......ALONE!!!!!!
I managed.....but left the house UPSIDE down and didnt return to the housework again until 8pm tonight.......what I'm trying to say is do any of you ever get so stressed you dont know which way is up????or down?????? Out of control..sometimes????? Please let me know this is normal sometimes.....
Maybe I need to take a nap maybe I need to start saying no.......or maybe it's just another crazy day in paradise......

After you leave here today ...go over and see my dear friend Sue..@ 99 Loose Balloons....she is new to this Blog world...welcome her in with open arms.....a cup of Joe and a big smile.

What inspired your blog name??....Barb @ A Chelsea Morning would like to know so go visit everyone else's names...........

Christmas Shopping....Anyone?????

I know it's August and I know what you are thinking!!!!!! But do you realize how many days until Christmas? 121..............
Yes.....I know you are saying...Jen.....shut up...... But it's true....Christmas is right around the corner...and I'am a Christmas fanatic.....I love this holiday. LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I get everyone a Christmas present down to the mailman. Yes.....I do. Scott says why do you get the mailman something...he has a great pension and makes good money....I just roll my eyes...its not the gift its the thought. So many people forget this.
I have started shopping......little things. Last year I didnt get to enjoy it as much....Miller was just born and well, I had a little bit of the baby blues......so I could careless who got a gift.....I did bake cookies for the mailman though.
I love Christmas shopping though. Walking into the mall and going from store to store...looking for sales or that perfect gift on my list. Grabbing a cappucino and going...nothing like it. The hussle and bussle doesnt bother me that much ...when I see someone upset or angry or trying to get around me I just smile really big and say MERRY CHRISTMAS...that either ticks them off because they know they are being rude...or changes thier attitude.
I always go out of town for a weekend to shop...useally with friends....I love the smells of shopping....coffee's, candy coated pecans, Hot Chocolate.....it's always nice to have this smell.
This year we are going to Nashville the 2nd weekend in December....looking forward to it.No kids.....that is always nice. I love looking at the Opryland Hotel Christmas Lights....they are so beautiful and shopping there is like a winter wonderland....its great. They have the sweetest neatest shops.
Christmas Shopping......I have already started mine.....and love every gift I purchase....let me know if you have started yours.....or if you dread it.
Happy Monday!!!!!

Friday Nights, Highschool Football & My Family

Well, tonight we went to our local highschool football game. You have to understand something about football in Paducah......it ROCKS.....highschool football is great. Now, Madison goes to the same school I went to my whole life. I went to all the football games in highschool never missed one...I dated a football player....I was Football Hoemcoming Queen 91'.....and have always loved going to the hometown games. The smell of popcorn when you walk through the gates....all the people you see...it's like a small town reunion...Scott went to a rival school but loves my school...tonight was Miller's first football game....well Scott couldnt wait. His BOY going to a football game. We had a friend ask if Miller was going to play...Scott says....Yeh.....are you crazy...this is our future quarterback.......Madison is a cheerleader for the 4th grade so she wore her uniform to school today and loves everything about cheering....she eats, breathes and talks cheerleading. Kick off is so exciting our family doesnt speak we just watch the first kick......its so intense.....then we start to yell...we yell for about 2 hours....we eat hot dogs, popcorn, candy, sodas...ect.
We enjoy seeing all our friends....and catching up.
Friday Nights, Highschool Football, and my family.....what a great combination. There is nothing better.

The Cardiologist

Thanks for your prayers......I'am fine. I think. I went in at 8am and waited until 9:30 to see somone. The Dr came in and listened to my heart about 5 different times.....he ordered an ultrasound on my heart and an EKG done right there in the office....then sent me to the hospital to have a Holter Monitor hooked up to me. Which by the way I would have a heck of a time getting through any airport security right now.....I look like I have bomb attached to me. I have to wear this until tomorrow.....they are monitoring my palpatations......anyway he seems to think I have a leak in a valve and its not flapping well....yes this is the term he used...flapping. He says it can be treated with exercise and medicine......and he stated that this is not something to be upset about...so I feel good about it..
Thank you again for your prayers...
On another note.....Miller is having an allergic reaction to his medicine and they have taken him off of it....he is on Benadryl until we figure out what is the cause of this......he has little red welps on his face and tummy.I believe they are hives...like it couldnt get any worse........we have to get our family pictures made for our church directory this Thursday....aghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a mom ready to scream.....I'm tired and worn out.......

Good Morning Friends

I wont be very long today....first of all I would like to thank all of you concerned with Miller. He is well....getting better. A double ear infection is never fun. He is taking his anti biotic with a major FIGHT...but we are getting it down him. This is good. He is very clingy though.

My blog today is in need of prayer....I have to go to a cardiologist this morning. Nothing serious....but I have what they call MVP...alot of women have it. They discovered it on me 9 years ago after Madison was born and said EXERCISE.....so I would walk every morning 2 miles and it stayed under control. Well, my OBGYN has found it and it is a little out of control and no I'm not exercising....so they want to monitor it...I will probably have to wear a monitor for about 2 days and have a couple of EKG's done...no big deal.........in the end I'm thinking they will probably make me start exercising again or put me on medicine to control it.It does not hurt me .....my heart just skips a beat and pounds really really hard.
I'm asking for each of you to say a small prayer at around 8:30 CST for I will be at the dr. office.
I'm not scared and very positive.
Just think of me if you can.....I'll email you when I get out.....I'm meeting a friend for coffee after this and will return home around lunch...will post then....
Have a good morning.

Miller, A Storm and Laundry

Well, Miller is still sick. Now he has a cold. He cant breathe through his nose so his mouth hangs open. I think his throat hurts. He slept pretty good last night. He woke up at 2am with a fever of 100......he is playing with daddy right now. He has 3 doses of anti biotics in him...this morning he struggled with taking it and spit some of it out....but for the most part we got it down. Just waiting for it to start working...and I'm sure its working on his ears...but now we have a cold. He is really clingy which is fine...I love snuggling with my kids.

We had a horrible storm last night it pushed our trampoline up against the pool and took out our patio furniture out into the field. We lost some tree limbs.....but for the most part we very lucky...we had about 40 mph winds maybe stronger than that. Madison was out to dinner my parents and called freakin out wanting to talk to Miller to let him know he would be okay.......

My laundry is over flowing with Miller being so sick.......I have about 4 loads waiting to be folded and about 2 to wash. The laundry is a never ending battle we will never win.

Well, I guess I have complained to you all enough I hope things get better soon so I can have better things to talk about...
Happy Sunday....

Its his Ears

Well, yesterday morning I decided to call the doctor....Miller just was NOT hisself. They got me in at 11 am. His temp kept going up so I kept thinking he has never ran a temp with teeth before. The doctor looked in his ears and said...he has a DOUBLE EAR INFECTION.......so there ya have it....here is the problem. SO he put him on an antibiotic and we came home. All afternoon he was pitiful. Whining........like you have never heard. So, we got the antibiotic down him...which Madison is allergic too....and he did okay for awhile. Last night I tried to get the medicine down him and he through up ALL over Scott. Now Scott cant handle vomit....he is horriblw with vomit. So I dealt with both of them. Madison just watched tv shaking her head and giggling. We never got the antibiotic down him last night he kept throwing it back up. SO he slept with me and Scott slept on the couch. He woke up at Midnight crying and I nursed him. He woke up at 2am with a 101 temp and I gave him Motrin and nursed him.....and he woke up at 6am and I nursed him.....he is sleeping now.
So here I'am trying to fit in a post and read everyones.....I'm sorry I have been away for a couple of days.....I did get some sleep and feel okay...I do however have a soar throat and Scott is feeling kinda bad. He just brought me some coffee.....he is so sweet.
I hope you all have a great weekend.......
Thanks for checking in with me and praying for my little man.

The Town I live in...Paducah

I live in a small town in Western Ky...Paducah, Ky to be exact. I was born and raised here. Population is about 64,000. I love Paducah. We have so much history here. Lewis & Clark came through here and so did the Underground Railroad. We are known for the American Quilters Society...very BIG here...and also for the most beautiful lakes in this part of the country. Kentucky is the bluegrass state and home of the Kentucky Derby (the most important 60 seconds in sports history)...but we have alot more that I'm going to share with you.
The people here are down home people...most off us know someone that knows someone and so on..which means we all know everyone...something like that.
We have great city wide activities...such as The Paducah Summer Festival...this is in July and there are things planned everyday and great concerts on the river at night with fireworks...we also have BBQ on the river....we have about 25 vendors set up all competing for the title of Best BBQ....and if I havent said it before...we have great BBQ...this goes on for 4 days. We have Hot August Blues which goes on for 4 days out on Kentucky Lake alot of bands get together and play thier hearts out with lots of Bluegrass Music....we honor our famous Quilter Tourist the last week of April and show them an awesome time......we have a great Artist Location downtown who have remodeled tons of old civil war and pre 1900 homes which you can tour only certain times a year. May-October our downtown opens up and people can walk up and down the streets on Saturday nights just like they did in the 40's we have people on the sides of the
streets singing and stores open up and its a great thing for us.
We are located on the Ohio River and its a great place to go down and sit and eat lunch and watch the barges going down the river.
We have the best strawberries and Jet Star Tomatoes, we have great schools,
a great tourism board, wonderful Antiques Stores, outstanding ice cream, and fabulous people who are down to earth friendly country people.
We are only 2 hours from Nashville, Tn (the home of country music) and 3 hours from St Louis ( the gateway to the west)...We are on the border of Illinois and Kentucky...and have been named The New Tornadoe Alley (this past spring)
What I'm trying to say is:
Paducah is my home its my childrens home and most of all its a place where you will always see a smile....a good old fashioned hand shake or nod. Some of us are as southern as southern gets with a glass of iced tea sitting on our front porches waving at every car that drives by or walking through the old market on the corner and knowing everyone in the store...our churches are small and some big...but they all have one thing in common they are all family and when someone has a baby or someone burys a loved one we all make a dish and take it to them....or watch thier kids if needed or pray for them everyday.Deep down we all want everyone to be happy. We try not to gossip...but it happens...and we try to be good honest people..always wanting to help out if someone moves or needs help with a project. We enjoy each others company and love seeing friends and family. Even watching our kids run through the back yard and catching ligtning bugs while we sit on the deck and chat with friends....there be no need for invitations here....you just stop by and visit and always have something cold to drink in the fridge. This is how I grew up this is how I was raised and this is how I will raise my kids......here in Paducah.
Paducah is the town I live in...I hope you enjoyed my town. Come back and see us..now..ya here?

My Saturday ...so far

Well, it's Saturday....the temp has finally dropped. We don't have much planned today. Madison has to go cheer for Meet the Flash..(her school and introducing this years football team and cheerleaders).
Everyone has gone their seperate ways today...Scott is cleaning out the pool...Madison is playing outside...and I'am blogging. I need to be cutting up the watermelon I bought at the Farmers Market yesterday...and cooking the apples that have been sitting in my kitchen for 2 weeks.
Miller fell this morning and busted his top lip...yes I saw blood for the first time and panicked. You never want this to happen. I was crying, Madison was crying...Scott thought we had a soap opera going on....he applied ice to his lip....I tell ya when your kids hurt you feel an absolute feeling of utter pain.....the worse feeling in the world. I called my mom crying......he is fine...and asleep right now. Funny how life just keeps on going. It may have stopped for 15 seconds for us but not for the world. So now I have a pit in my stomach and feel awful. This too shall pass. I know. But for now I'm going to finish my last cup of coffee and sit here in the quiet and thank God he is okay.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Jen

Madison & her first day of School

Okay, here it is....she loved it. The first day went better than I thought it would. She was decked out in camo down to her feet........I also paintd her toe nails that color. She was nervous at first but is happy to get back. No homework this week..thank goodness. She has been quiet but I think this is her maturing. I can't believe she is 9 and in the 4th grade. I can remember the moment she came into this world....now she is shopping, wanting a cell phone and talking about BOYS!!!!
Alot of you had asked about her and well, she did great....why we worry.....well, I guess it wouldnt be real if we didnt...its like Barb says....you will always worry. This I believe. Thanks to all of you for thinking of me and praying for us both......

Cutting Teeth

We have 2 teeth....its been a long, hard couple of nights..what am I saying..a couple of weeks. But...we have 2 teeth. He has been sleeping for only 2 hours at a time at night so I'm a little sleep deprived...but that is okay considering. He is really congested and rubs his face on things...is this normal with teething???? He nurses alot too. I have been using lots of Motrin and Teething Tablets.......but you know my little guy is hurting.
I guess I need to go to sleep...if I dont post to you it's because I'm having to catch cat naps when he sleeps. I'll post tomorrow when Madison goes to school...I may need to talk by then.

The Last Day until......School

Well, I didnt blog yesterday....had some things on my mind. We had registration and it was very chaotic. But, she is registered, met the teacher and got Madison sqaured away. This is going to be a great year. Madison's teacher has a dry personality I have been told...but I'm okay with that..Madison needs structure.......and discipline.
So.............today we are going to get new tennis shoes and going to lunch with dad. Its a beautiful day and I'm going to enjoy Madison on her last day of Summer Break. She also starts gymnastics tonight so she is pretty excited about this.
I did'nt do a Tackle it Tuesday........my laundry pile on the couch could be this. Ha Ha!
I hope everyone enjoys today........it seems summer is coming to an end when the kiddies go back to school.
Have a great day!

Its official..Miller says Ma Ma and knows its me he is talking about. That is the most amazing thing in the world. Your baby sitting around babbing your name. I LOVE IT. I had forgotten with Madison ...of course her first word was DA DA. Miller's first word was bye bye...now he says MA MA. It's so wild..this little baby I helped create and gave birth to has changed so much in 8 months. He is into everything and says MA MA.
I just wanted you all to know. I'm so excited today.

Blogging Friends

I have only been blogging for about 3 weeks now and I have had the nicest people email me. I really didnt expect to talk to that many people that I have never met. People will come in and out of your life and I have always heard this....but its odd how this sometimes can happen. I have so many amazing friends and the best family a gal could ask for. My friends are great. I mean great. If I called any of them and said I need you now....I could count on 2 hands how many would be in my living room in 15 minutes tops. I'am truely blessed. Scott and I lived in Panama City, Fl when we first got married and met some great people there also. I love my friends.
Now I have met some great blogging friends who listen to my life everyday and tune in to see what has happened to me. I look forward to reading all of thier blogs also. There are some amazing gals out there...some who are serious and some who make me laugh so hard I could pee on myself. I enjoy each of you and look forward to reading about you each morning with my coffee. I feel like you all are here in my living room drinking coffee (with my favorite creamers) and just talking.
How blessed are we all???? I would say we are very blessed to have found such great women and Christian women at that. God is good ladies......really good.
I hope each of you have a blessed day and look forward to reading your blogs today.
